Bays End: A Gem that's Worth the Read

Asa reader, I’m like most people in that I tend to gravitate toward intriguingtitles. Normally, Bays End wouldn’t getmy attention, but since the author, Edward Lorn, took a liking to one of myeBooks, I decided to read his. I’m soglad I did!

Lorn took me on a ride that included some mystery, preadolescent charactersthat reminded me of my younger days, and horror that lingered in my mind longafter I had read the book. Not onlyare the protagonists likeable, the horror that surrounds them may strike achord that no reader should ignore. Lorn’ssmooth prose maintained my attention from cover to cover. One minute I’d laugh while another I’d getangry with the villains. His uniquestyle is refreshing and all the while I read Bays End, I grinned, knowing thatI had just found a gem of an author in a sea of new writers competing forreaders.

Yes!Bays End is an excellent, yet sad story told by a gifted new voice. I’m looking forward to reading more fromEdward Lorn. Count me in, Mr. Lorn,among your newest of fans!

HAROLD: Ateacher.

Were you as bad as the next two kids? I was probably worse.

A 6 year old and a 4 year old are upstairs in their bedroom.
"You know what?" says the 6 year old. "I thinkit’s about time we started Cussing."

The 4 year old nods his head in approval.

The 6 year old continues "when we go downstairs for breakfast, I’m gonnasay something with 'hell' and you say something with 'ass'."

The 4 year old agrees with enthusiasm.

When the mother walks into the kitchen and asks the 6 year old what he wants for breakfast, he replies, "Aw, hell, Mom, I guess I'll have some Cheerios."

WHACK!

He flies out of his chair, tumbles across the kitchen floor, gets up, andruns upstairs crying his eyes out, with his mother in hot pursuit, slapping hisrear with every step.

His mom locks him in his room and shouts, "You can stay there until Ilet you out!”

She then comes back downstairs, looks at the 4 year old and asks with a stern voice, "And what do YOU want for breakfast, young man?"

"I don't know,” he blubbers, “but you can bet your fat ass it won't be Cheerios!"

Eaten Alive

I’ve been through the hell a number of times, watching aloved one as he slowly withers away until he becomes unrecognizable. I understand that we’re not really from thisplanet. I know this is all temporary,but what can I do to ease his suffering?

I first witnessed the horror of cancer as it destroyed myfather. I’d read stories of a carpenterwith the power to heal upon a simple touch, or with his word alone, and they havealways remained in my thoughts. I’d sitby his side and wish…if only I could make the disease go away. If only I could make it so he could smileagain.

These days I haven’t been able to write. My mind has been consumed with thoughts of myuncle who is battling colon cancer. Doctors said there’s nothing anyone could do. On Saturday I took him his last wish, lasagna, I had made especially for him. He atesome, at first eagerly, and then the realization that he couldn’t consumesolids slowed him down until all he could do was cradle the small plate. He’s a Korean War veteran and he’s finallybeginning to lose the fight in him.

That Saturday, I felt her, his primary escort to the otherside. She was waiting for him. Tonight, I heard that he kept asking his sonwho the woman was. No one had introducedher to him because he was the only one who could see her. He also kept staring at the ceiling, lookingat the pretty white light.

I don’t know how much longer my uncle has left, but I’mgrateful to have shared such an intimate moment with him.

Goodbye, Uncle Ernest, she’s waiting for you. Your mother, my grandma, is waiting to takeyou home.

Sometimes the dark side catches us.

The veteran author kicks off the year for us with one of her writing articles which I understand can be a huge help to writers of all levels. Without further ado, here's Joy Cagil.

Fiction: Common Story Mistakes

True writing is revising and rewriting. A writer needs to revise and rewrite to discern the subtle tones inside his story and to offer them to the readers with greater depth.

Most of us are excited while writing that first draft, but when it comes to revision, we may lose the enthusiasm. Yet, an experienced story teller finds great satisfaction in rewriting and reconstructing his story, because he knows his finished product can even excel his expectations.

John Irving, the author of inimitable books such as The World According to Garp, Cider House Rules, and The Fourth Hand, said: "More than a half, maybe as much as two-thirds, of my life as a writer is rewriting. I wouldn't say I have a talent that's special. It strikes me that I have an unusual kind of stamina."

The first rewrite should include further story refinement and structural changes than what was included in the first draft. After that, at least two revisions may be needed before the final polishing.

The biggest mistake a writer usually makes is in not being able to find out the best place or time for the story to begin. If the writer rambles on and on without concentrating on the real beginning, the story becomes a flop right at the start. This happens because the best starting point for a story is difficult to ascertain when the writer is writing the first draft. The second rewrite should give the writer a better idea on this problem.

Although there are many ways of starting a story, the real story begins with the main character's first defining moment of conflict, which also identifies the story's premise. This moment is called the inciting incident. This moment needs to occur almost immediately or within somewhere in the first few pages of a novel. In a short story, it has to come in the first few paragraphs.

State of mind of the character or his inner world is the second beware sign for any writer. The writer has to know the inner world of the character to its finest detail to create insight into the story. When insight happens, the reader gets involved in the story. Even if the story takes place in an exciting and constantly changing outer world, the character's reaction to it will be through his unremitting inner conflict. This continuous inner conflict will be the most important thing for the writer to master.

Missing an element of a story--such as a moral dilemma or hesitation between two possibilities--will lower the quality of the story, even if the idea is great and the character has a powerful incentive.

Missing story points is another problem. Major story points reveal the emotional story that makes the reader identify with the character. Story points are established through the central conflict, secondary characters, and subplots. When some of those are missing, the story has to be missing something also.

Not building toward the climax or crowding out the story is another problem. Unless you are writing a mystery and you want to throw in a red herring, unnecessary scenes and false steps arrest the enjoyment of the reader and do not let the emotional story to make its powerful impact.

Not developing the antagonist well enough or underwriting him is another problem. A completely original main character is great, but the antagonist should equal him in star quality to create a gripping story.

A good tip is, when you are blocked but want to work on the story anyhow, you might as well work on its construction. Here are a few suggestions to get a writer back on track:

1. Work on your main character. Include his needs, motivation, and subconscious. For practice, write side stories including this character. If you already did this, experiment with point of view changes. Changing the point of view may bring a fresh insight into the story.

2. Do not waver from the most important plot points for the action of the story, once they are set.

3. Improve upon key story points that reveal what the story's theme is about.

4. Develop potential plot points and think of linking them in proper places inside the story.

5. Establish the moral dilemma inside the main character. Create or enhance his flaw. Create conflict. Create solutions that are character driven. Also, work on his backstory to give depth to his character.

6. Check over again the already assembled plot points. Throw out the ones that seem to wander away. See if you can come up with things more unique and original.

When asked by an editor or a reviewer to revise or rewrite a story, a serious writer should never take it as an insult. Rewrites and revisions are for making the story stronger and accomplishing the writer's story goals. If writers remember this, their stories will not go wrong.

My Life as a Psychic Zombie

Traumaticevents may bring to light the discovery of unusual abilities. When I was just six years old, my fatherpassed away from cancer. One of mycousins tried to explain the concept of death to me. The news of the finality of the act of dyingstunned me into a state of shock, causing me to lose consciousness. One month after my dad’s burial, I receivedan impossible phone call.

“Hello?”

Staticshot through the receiver, making it difficult to hear the voice. Once the noise subsided a bit, I instantlyrecognized the voice on the other end.

“Dad?”

“Son,”more static preceded by “I’m not supposed to be doing this, but you have tostop worrying about me.”

“Dad,when are you coming back?”

Mymother was in the kitchen and asked, “Who are you talking too?”

“It’sdad!” I said all excited.

Atthat moment, I witnessed my mother’s cheeks as they turned red.

Mydad continued, “Son, you’re the man of the house. Take care of your mother and little brother.”

BeforeI could ask him again when he was going to return, my mother yanked the phoneout of my hands. She screamed, “This iscruel! My husband is dead. How can you…” she listened to the voice onthe other end and tears flowed down her whitening cheeks.

“Whenis dad coming back, mom?”

Shedropped the phone and ran to her room to light a candle and pray.

WhenI picked up the receiver which was dangling from the phone’s base, Ispoke. “Dad, are you there?”

Nothing.

Icould only describe what I heard as a vast emptiness. No longer did the static signal transcend acrosstime and space. The huge void seemed toseep through the tiny holes in the receiver, chilling my bones.

Foras long as I could remember, my father’s last words, which he took the troubleto repeat to me during the impossible phone call, played over and over in mymind. Looking back on the event, Iunderstood why my mother never spoke of that mystical day.

Asone could imagine, the impossible conversation left me in a haze. When I returned to school, I appeared tomimic a zombie for the body was present but the mind wandered off with so manyquestions. I wish I could say that thestrange phone call was the extent of my contact with dead people, but sincethen there have been many instances of supernatural occurrences in mylife. Though some would say I’m psychic,I don’t buy into that term since I have very little control over the encounterswith ghosts. It’s not like I can turn iton and say okay, today I’ll converse with a dead person.

Accordingto my mother, my father told her in a dream that he’s not allowed anywhere nearme. He had left her a message which shegave to me after a crucial event in my life had occurred. I don’t want to go into details, but I willadmit that on a special night, a night that determined not just my future, but thebirth of my children, an invisible hand pushed my chest and secured that mylife stay on its proper course.

Anyway,after my father’s death, for at least five years I literally went throughschool as a psychic zombie. The teacherswould converse with the class, and on a few occasions, images of their futureinfiltrated my mind. One teacher who wasoverweight, I had pictured her lying in bed, a fragile child of God. A few years later she died of cancer and I hadvisited her before she passed on and witnessed the incrediblemetamorphosis. Another teacher, a coupleof years earlier, entered the classroom and I asked her what name she plannedon giving the boy she was carrying in her womb. After looking at me as if I belonged in an insane asylum, she admittedto just discovering she was two months pregnant. My revelation appeared to mess with her mindsince she insisted she find out how I knew. She hadn’t given the news to anyone yet, not even her husband. And yes, she had a boy.

Sowhat lesson have I learned from my experience? Never tell anyone that death is the end for as I understand it, death isthe mechanism in which we journey back home.

10. A classmatevomits and while everyone is busy gagging and saying “Yuck!” in your mindyou’re picturing the kid spit out his organs and actually find yourself hopingfor the worst.

9. On your way toschool you witness a man get hit by a car and as he’s being put into theambulance, you wonder if he’ll end up as food for cannibals.

8. Every time you goto a cemetery you keep envisioning graves opening from the ground and zombiesrising to feed on the living.

7. In your imaginaryworld, a Chihuahua can swallow Cujo whole.

6. You avoid mowingthe lawn at all costs because you could have sworn the neighbor’s cat was capturedby a large creature with talons.

5. When you getbullied at school you think up of new ways to torture the offenders.

4. A walk through thewoods to grandma’s house ends with you turning into a werewolf and feasting onyour annoying little brother.

3. You throw a fitwhen your mother wakes you from a nightmare so you won’t be late for school.

Here's a poem that was inspired by my teasing a fellow coworker while she was feeling under the weather. I predicted since I was poking fun at her situation, that I'd be stricken with her illness. That night, my body had to fight off symptoms of the flu. That got me thinking just how much power the mind has. Unless of course, she really did try to put a hex on me. This one's for you Laura.

Stop Bullying! Knight's Reflection On What's Goin On

I saw Jonah Mowry's Youtube video today. The pain in his eyes sent jabbing pains into my chest. I know what it's like to hurt, to be ridiculed, to be misunderstood. His story is not unlike so many who struggle with the realization that they are not like what society expects them to be. I work with teens and see how they try and cope with how others view them just for being different from the majority.

Please watch the video and take the time to let Jonah and others like him know that they do make a difference every day. Bullying must stop and the best way to do this is to educate anyone who breathes, anyone who has the capacity to despise, to spew foul words of hate and maim others just because they are different. Tell the Bullies that we'll tolerate no more and to spread love to all we can. Isn't it time peace reigned on Earth?

Till Death Do We Part

I glide through fog, dodging dying trees, listening foryour heartbeat. Anger beckons me like amoth to a flame. Surely you didn’t thinkI wouldn’t find you? With one furiousstrike you plunged the blade into my chest and left me to die in this godforsakenforest.

The sound of splintered branches stops me cold. I tremble, not from fear, but intenseanticipation. I shut my eyes to allowyour retreat to guide me, when chills run along my spine as your brokenwhimpers lift up my spirit.

I whisper, hoping my voice can break through cloudedbarriers. “I’m coming for you, darling.”

Never one for confrontation, I had shied away fromrevealing the truth, that I knew you had a forbidden lover. I clutch my aching chest, still in awe ofyour reaction to my illuminating revelation. Peeking up at the starless heaven, I wonder how you could plunge theblade and destroy all that we once were.

More whimpers lead me to adjust my course and travelwest. The sound of something dragging ondrenched terrain, just ahead, adds to my desire to make things right.

The temptation to call out and ask if you’re hurt issilenced by my need to surprise you. Howcould you know that I’m extraordinary? Yourviolent reaction forced me to tear my shirt and make a tourniquet to controlthe bleeding.

Somewhere in the midst of white blindness, I sense yourise, step hard on the ground and hear you cry out as your body lands with athud.

I step closer and at last the fog lifts just enough toreveal you holding a swollen ankle.

“Who’s there?”

Desperation rings from your voice. I stop, surprised that I don’t attackyou. There are so many things I want totell you, so much love left inside me to give.

I glance at my right hand and realize my knuckles turnedwhite for the tight grip on the knife’s handle serves to transfer my pain.

“Honey, I’m coming for you.”

I step through, marveling at how the purity of theclouds surrounds us. Your gaping mouth andtrembling body increases my desire to have you.

“This can’t be. You’re dead.”

You bury your head in your hands and shudder. Each sob stabs sorrow into my heart.

“I’m sorry, Nestor.” You say, “I didn’t know what elseto do. I panicked.”

I drop the knife, step closer and gently pull down yourhands. Our eyes meet. “We’re married for better or worse.”

With nose running and cheeks filled with tears, yousigh, “I cheated. I’m sorry.”

“We can get passed this.”

“But I stabbed you in the heart. How can you be alive?”

I reach to stroke your hair, never expecting you to pushme to the ground. I land on my back andwatch with horror as you lunge for the knife.

“Why won’t you just die?”

You take the blade and jab at my foot, coming within aninch of reaching my shoe.

“This doesn’t have to be like this.”

“Die! Youbastard!”

You slither forward and plunge the knife down, narrowlymissing my crotch.

I grab your wrist, reverse our positions, and put my weight on your chest,struggling to keep the blade off both our necks.

“Stop it! I loveyou!”

“I hate you!”

Your words maim me more than any weapon ever could. I gather enough air and whisper, “Why?”

“Because you’re my brother.”

I disarm you and roll on my back until I’m sittingagainst a tree stump. I watch as yourbody shakes and you reach into the back of your jeans pocket and pull out afolded paper.

“Take it.”

I yank the paper, unfold it and read your birthcertificate. Low and behold, your father’sname matches mine.

“I didn’t know.”

Without warning, you reach for the knife, shoving itwhile still in my grip toward my wound.

“Die!”

I had heard rumors about father being locked away in amental institution. Schizophrenia theycalled it. I read about how it’spossible for a family member to suffer from the same illness.

I push the tip of the knife off my bleeding chest andwith one swift motion; slice the blade across your throat. Blood squirts on my face, forming sanguinarytears.

“I’m sorry you got father’s sickness. I could have helped you.”

I stroke your matted hair as you lie on the ground, chokingon your own blood.

“The funny thing about genes, I inherited anothercondition he had. I inherited situsinversus. That’s when the organs arereversed.”

I guide your hands to the middle of my chest, closer tothe right side. “This is where my heartis.”

I cry when I see the sparkle of life abandon your eyes.

“Till death do we part, my darling sister, my darlingbride.”

Double Winner: The Versatile Blogger Award

It appears that Knight Chills is a double recipient of The Versatile Blogger Award. Last year I was fortunate enough to receive this award and this year two gifted writers sent it my way. So before I follow the rules that come with acceptance of this privilege, I want to honor them.

First up, Carole Gill who contributed with her amazing story, Memoir, which happens to rank 10th as of this writing, has graced me with this award. Carole Gill is an amazing writer of Gothic Romance. She creates characters that dazzle and frighten the reader with style and grace. You can honor me by visiting her blog: Carole Gill Official Author Blog.

And the other author who selected me is the great Blaze McRob. Blaze is one of my favorite horror writers. He dazzles us with characters that will give you the creeps and stay with you long after you've read the story. Look for Blaze in his blog Blaze McRob's Tales of Horror.

Now for the rules that bind the next recipients of this award. They are: thank and recognize the presenter of the award, reveal seven facts about yourself, and then pass the award on to up to 15 other bloggers whom you would like to recognize.

Alright, here are seven facts people might not know about me.

1. I've literally had run-ins with some famous celebrities. My most memorable encounter was when I accidentally knocked Bo Derek to the ground on a New York City Street. Don't worry, I helped her up. The woman has the most amazing eyes.

2. I used to be a die hard Mets fan and one winter wore only a team jacket for the month of December. I guess I had brain freeze.

3. When I'm alone I sing (badly). I love music.

4. I coached little league baseball when I was just 15 years old. I sure enjoyed making the umpires look silly. I'd sound smart and quote bogus rule numbers to win my arguments.

5. Sometimes when I'm teaching I speak real loud just for the fun of it. (Did it today and now my throat is sore).

6. I coached boys and girls basketball. Coached women in Puerto Rico's pro league. That was fun!

7. My first home-run as a little leaguer stunned everyone especially me, since I had my eyes closed.

I've mentioned that real life inspires horror. Well, Jay Smith from Criminal Justice Degrees Guide dot com sent me an interesting article to share with our great Knight Chills readers. 8 Horror Movies That Inspired Real-Life Crimes

Horror movies are meant to entertain and excite audiences, but by no means are they intended to be taken off the screen and acted out in real life. In some rare cases, horror movies give mentally ill people creative, yet twisted ideas that they feel compelled to repeat. Here are eight horror movies that inspired real-life crimes:

Natural Born Killers
Natural Born Killers has inspired some of the most gruesome copycat killings in history. The film has been associated with several serial killers, including the homicidal couple Sarah Edmonson and Benjamin Darras. In 1995, the murderous duo dropped LSD and watched Natural Born Killers repeatedly before going on a drug-fueled crime spree of robbing and shooting a convenience store clerk that left her a quadriplegic. During the crime spree, Darras shot and killed a Mississippi businessman. Edmonson was sentenced to 35 years in prison and Darras is doing life.
Scream
Wes Craven’s slasher movie series Scream was the inspiration behind the murder of Gina Castillo by her 16-year-old son and his 15-year-old cousin, Samuel Ramirez. The two teenagers confessed to the gruesome murder of Castillo and admitted that they did it because they needed money to fund a murder spree that would reenact the story line of the first two Hollywood Scream movies. In order to follow the Scream story line, the teenage boys planned to buy the ghost-face mask and electronic voice boxes that are seen in the movie.
A Clockwork Orange
Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange has been the inspiration for many twisted real-life crimes, specifically throughout Britain. The crimes have exhibited similarities with the film, but one of the most bizarre cases involved a man named John Ricketts who was dressed up as a droog from A Clockwork Orange and assaulted a woman dressed as Little Britain‘s Vicky Pollard at an office party. The violent movie was banned from UK cinemas because of the increase in violent crimes following its release.
Queen of the Damned
In 2002, Allan Menzies murdered his longtime friend, Thomas McKendrick, because he claimed a character in the vampire movie, Queen of the Damned, told him to do it and promised to make him a vampire in the next life. After watching the film about 100 times and receiving a visit from the female vampire Akasha in the middle of the night, he decided to murder people. Menzies also believed that McKendrick and another friend were plotting to kill him, but he turned on McKendrick first. Menzies stabbed his friend to death, drank his blood, and ate part of his head before burying him in a shallow grave. The "vampire killer" was later found dead in his prison cell from an apparent suicide.
Child’s Play 3
Robert Thompson and Jon Venables were 10 years old when they kidnapped and brutally murdered two-year-old James Bulger in Liverpool. In 1993, Thompson and Venables snatched the toddler from a shopping mall and took him to a railway line where they beat and sexually assaulted the young boy. They left Bulger’s mutilated body on the railway tracks to die. Thompson and Venables were supposedly inspired by the horror film Child’s Play 3. The killer doll movies caused a great deal of controversy in the United Kingdom, as well as a public outcry for tightening "video nasties."

Iwoke to screams. While my visionadjusted to the darkness, beads of sweat cascaded down my spine. The fan’s hum had died.

“Damn!The power is out again.”

Myvoice sounded like a choked whisper. Itried to clear my throat, immediately holding my neck to ease an intensesoreness.

Dropletsof rain pelted the windows, triggering memories of giant creatures fighting toget in my abode.

Iuttered, “What a dream!”

Inspite of the humid night, I embraced myself to stop from shaking. The more I attempted to focus on my presentstate, the quicker my room seemed to fade into nothingness. Thick silence morphed into gruesome, run-for-your-lifescreams. Constant pounding increased myheartbeat. I recalled thinking, can’t let them eat me.

Thesplinter of wood, followed by the clickity clack of something inhuman,travelled to my eardrums and into my psyche. Instinct clawed at my stomach.

Run!

Somehow,I knew the monsters outside were determined to feast on my flesh.

Anotherjolt, followed by more wood cracking, prompted me to search for a weapon.

“Ineed a sword.”

ClickityClack!

Aray of moonlight revealed whiskers. No,not whiskers, but antennae.

“Whatthe hell?”

ClickityClack! Clickity Clack!

Apair of giant, silver eyes filled with needle-like indentations glared at me asthough I belonged to the bottom of the food chain.

Iwondered if kicking its eyes would disable it long enough for me toescape.

Itshook side to side, attempting with desperate precision to invade myterritory.

“Wakeup, damn it! Wake up!”

Onelast push and the giant beast smashed its way within inches of my tremblingframe, forcing me to hug the wall—trapped.

Icrouched, praying for invisibility, when three more beasts cornered me.

Asthe giant ants stabbed me with their antennae, I snapped out of my trance. The power went back on. My wife poked me with her sharpfingernails.

“Wakeup, Carl! You’re having anothernightmare.”

“They’retrying to get back at me.”

“Who?” Emily brushed hair away from my eyes.

“Ants!”

Shegiggled. “I told you not to eat thosechocolate covered ants. Now go back tosleep.”

Iwatched as she turned off the lights and settled under the covers. The fan circulated humid air in theroom.

“Howcan you cover up with this heat?”

Lightsnores signaled that she was fast asleep.

Itried to follow her example and rested my head on the pillow, wishing I hadn’ttaken the dare.

Thesound of wood splintering jolted me upright again.

“Honey,did you hear that?”

Alouder snore confirmed she remained oblivious to our reality.

Inspite of my agitated state, my eyes grew heavy. Attempts at shaking off sleep wereinterrupted by the distinct sound of wood cracking.

This can’t be happening. I must be dreaming again.

Forawhile I couldn’t tell what was real or the nightmare. I sat upright for what seemed likehours. The rain stopped. The welcomed sounds of silence accompanied myhead bobbing. As soon as I rested myhead on the pillow, I sighed with relief, vowing to never eat chocolate coveredants again.

Ishut my eyes.

ClicketyClack!

Horridscreams filled the night air. Thecreatures surrounded our bed. Rousedfrom sleep, Emily demonstrated a healthy set of lungs with her explosivecries.

“Goaway!” I yelled.

Oneof the creatures lowered its head near Emily’s nose.

Icouldn’t allow my wife to die for my mistake.

“Heydumb ass! Eat me!”

Butthe rotten scoundrels ignored me and tore my wife to pieces.

Toobad the authorities didn’t believe me. The sound of the cell door sliding open made my heart sink.

“It’stime for your execution, Carl.”

Iturned to find a priest waiting with an officer.

“Please,Father, I didn’t do it.”

Thegray haired gentleman frowned. “Son, ifthey hadn’t pumped your stomach and found pieces of your wife’s heart, I couldhave believed you.”

Theofficer uttered, “Time to die, sucker!”

Thewalk to the deathbed seemed like hours. Each step felt as if a ton of steel weighed my feet into quicksand. After the medical personnel strapped me inand triggered the poison to run through my veins, the priest said, “Do you haveanything to say to society, or at least to your wife’s family?”

Inodded. “Eat me!”

ThenI heard it.

ClickityClack!

Thesecurity guard yelled, “What the hell is that!”

Largeshadows crept in, darkening the bright room.

Thepriest yanked out the tubes feeding me poison. He cried, “What do we do?”

Onebeast tore the officer apart.

Thedoctor and nurse both screamed until their shouts were replaced by torn fleshand bones. As the giant ants surroundedus, I gripped the priest’s hands and said, “Do what I do.”

Hissweaty palms slipped off me. As one ofthe creatures lowered its head over his, I yelled, “Eat me!” The priest repeated the phrase and the monstersfaded into the shadows.

Now,Father Ryan and I share the same cell, waiting for our day to die. Society thinks we’re cannibals. Our next execution is slated for prime timetelevision on All Hollows Eve in the year 2012. That’s the night everyone will see that we’re not monsters. The giant ants exist and they cloakthemselves in the shadows. If you don’tbelieve me, eat chocolate covered ants and yell, “Eat me!” You’ll hear them coming.

Guest Blogger: Indie Author Jemima Valentino Blog Tour

For the longesttime the only person in my life that knew I had published my first novella ‘HisElle’ was my husband. In fact, it took me a whole year to pluck up the courageto even tell him that I’d written it. Was it because I was embarrassed orashamed? Not at all. It was because deep down, I was worried that it simplywouldn’t be good enough. He encouraged me to self-publish and I joined a blogtour and twitter to help promote it.

Then somethingamazing happened - the very first review I received (from someone I didn’tknow) had a five star rating. Before I knew it, I had a littering of three,four and five star reviews on Amazon and GoodReads, and I even received a fewemails from readers telling me how much they enjoyed my work. For a few monthsI was incredibly happy with the progress of His Elle and knew that I had towrite another book soon, just to continue to feel the high.

Then, a few monthsago, something else happened. Something that I wasn’t expecting. I received aone star review on Amazon, coupled with a comment from the reader that theyactually hated it. Yes, they wrote the words ‘I hate it’ on the internet, onAmazon of all places - for the whole world to see. My worst fear as a writerhad been realised. Or so I thought.

In actual fact Ithink it’s the best thing that could have happened because the review was notactually critical of my writing style, but more the fact that the readerstrongly disliked the story content. Actually, this is totally fine with me andit now brings a smile to my face. I’ve read books like that before, where thereis nothing wrong at all with the authors style, just that the story didn’tagree with me. But those books at least make me feel something and invoke astrong emotion. After that day, all the reviews I receive I look upon in atruly positive light, whether or not they are negative, and this is because Ihave truly sparked a reaction from the reader, and that means that as anauthor, I have done my job.

So, I did indeedcarry on writing, and I am so pleased to have recently published my latestrelease The House on Hundred Hill, the first in The Nephilim series, nowavailable for Amazon Kindle. It’s very different from my last book, but I dohope the readers who enjoyed His Elle will also enjoy this.

Excerpt -

Jessica slowly opened the door of her car and placed her red heels on the gravelled driveway. She had arrived after a short drive from her one bedroomed flat in the City, yet was now deep in the heart of Cotswold’s countryside. She instinctively knew where to turn off the road.

Everything looked familiar; the rolling farm land, the few miles of hedgerows, the country inn that she had passed just a few moments ago but now wasn’t even visible. Even the one-lane track that opened up before her very eyes as an introduction to the sprawling and immaculate gravel driveway that framed the front of the house was familiar to her. She had that unmistakable sense of déjà vu, like she had been there before, even though she knew it to be impossible. Jessica was a city girl and had not so much as stepped foot outside of central Gloucester since she had moved there ten years ago, escaping from her former life, like a prisoner on the run.

As she glanced at her surroundings it was as if she were peering through a fine mist. There was something not quite right about this place and her inner voice told her to get back in the car and drive, drive as far and as fast as could until the House on Hundred Hill was a mere spec on the distant horizon and only ever appeared to her again in her dreams.

Fighting her own will, Jessica stepped out of the car, left the keys in the ignition and firmly closed the door, leaving behind the rogue thoughts that cantered around in her head.

The significant mansion looked overly formal and obscurely severe in the soft orange rays of the evening sun. The shadows from the substantial English Oaks that adorned the driveway spread an eerie silence over the perfectly cut lawns and exquisitely manicured roses in full bloom that climbed the stone walls of the house.

Magnificent topiary lions bared their moss-green teeth from either side of the porch, stretching out their long bodies as they studied her approach. Jessica shuddered as the eyes of the female seemed to follow her as she walked up the white marble steps and under the porch, towards the front door. She spun around when she reached the top, eyeing the lioness as she attempted to shake the unearthly feeling of being watched.

Taking great care to smooth out the black summer dress embellished with large red Japanese flowers that she had chosen for the evening, Jessica nervously lifted the heavy iron deer-shaped knocker and rapped once on the door. She had left her keys in the car as instructed, yet there seemed to be nobody around to greet her or to park her car. In fact, with the exception of her own ragged breathing, there was not a sound to be heard. She began to wonder if she had written down the address correctly, but this surely had to be the place. She felt it.

Footsteps approached the front door from inside the house and Jessica heard her heart thumping in her ears. She fiddled with her hair; an old nervous habit. What am I doing here? She thought. Her nerves suddenly overwhelmed her and she turned on her red heels and started to quickly walk away, back down the marble steps of the porch, as quickly as she could. She had the sudden desperate urge to run back to her car before it was too late.

She was already too late. It had gone.

The 9 Weirdest Horror Movies Ever Made

All horror movies are weird, when you think about it. How often do you really find yourself fighting a psycho in a hockey mask when you go camping? Or worrying about whether your local hospital will suddenly start spitting out zombies? Not that often. Even so, some horror movies look like documentaries compared with some of the genre's weirder entries. You want a possessed bed? Evil snow? Sentient human waste? Then you're in luck. Here are 10 of the weirdest horror movies ever made, for anyone feeling brave or bored enough to give them a try. Don't say we didn't warn you, though.

Death Bed: The Bed That Eats
Immortalized in a Patton Oswalt routine, Death Bed: The Bed That Eats offers everything its title promises. There's a bed, and it eats people who sleep on it. Period. Released in 1977 by writer/director/producer George Barry — who is apparently a one-man operation for gems like this one — the film tells the story of a bed possessed by a demon that kills and eats anyone who tries to sleep or make love on it. The production values are, to put it kindly, not very good, but the final product is just crazy enough to be watchable. Just sit on a couch when you do.
Tourist Trap
The 1970s and 1980s were kind of a golden era for weird American horror. The genre was still considered an illegitimate offshoot of "real" filmmaking, and it took game-changers like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Halloween to start convincing people that horror was more than just goofy shocks. That was a tough fight, too, because movies like Tourist Trap were nothing but goofy shocks for 90 minutes at a time. And make no mistake: This is a weird movie. It's all about a group of friends who stumble upon an old man who owns a run-down museum full of mannequins and wax figures that he — wait for it — controls telepathically. He picks the kids off and turns them into plastic monsters to fill up his collection. Creepy, darkly humorous, and definitely worth your time.
Teeth
Mitchell Lichtenstein's slightly campy, definitely uncomfortable horror movie deals with a teenage girl cursed with vagina dentata. It is every bit as awkward and weird as it sounds — it's not uncommon for the horror to happen just out of frame, only for a severed organ to fall with a thump to the ground — and its unevenness keeps it from working as a thriller or a comedy. It's not straight enough to be scary, and it's not nearly funny or smart enough to play as a satire. It's just off-putting.
Cannibal! The Musical
Before they got going with South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone did what all college students do: They made a musical about cannibalism in the days of gold prospecting. Originally titled Alferd Packer: The Musical and retitled Cannibal! The Musical when it was picked up for distribution, the horror-comedy tells the tale of Alferd Packer, a prospector involved in a cannibalism incident in the winter of 1873 on a journey from Utah to Colorado. The movie is hilarious and bizarre in equal measure, veering from upbeat songs to moments of absurd gore with a glee that Parker and Stone would later bring to their landmark animated series. Watch it for the experience, but don't be surprised if you start humming the songs. (Photo above courtesy of Troma.)
The Baby
Now this is one for the books. Released in 1973, the film revolves around a social worker who starts working for a family whose patriarch is a mentally impaired man in his 20s who still crawls around and acts like a baby. The man is also regularly abused and sexually assaulted by his mother and sisters (and a babysitter). It's a psychological thriller with a bizarre execution, and it's the kind of insane flick that fell through the cracks of the world and drifted through grindhouses and cable stations in the years after its debut. The ending is the perfect capper to a twisted story. It's a horror movie, yes, but more than anything it's just crazy.

Awesome Read by Poppet

Erra,by Poppet, is a book that I read expecting it to fulfill my craving forsupernatural beings with a penchant for action. I knew there’d be romance, and sure enough, there’s an interesting lovetriangle in the mix. And since I’ve readother books by this truly gifted author, I expected her prose to flow on thepage. Well, not only did she mesmerizeme with fantastic lines, she did an amazing job weaving the storyline so thatreaders could take more than just a story with them. From her stunning female lead, Sarah, to themen who surrounded her, Dusty and Erra, this book shines while shedding a lighton several mysteries of life.

Ifyou’re looking for a read where characters seem to literally jump off the page,then Poppet’s Erra is a must read! Fromthe sensual allure of Sarah and her incredible chemistry with Dusty, to theconflicts with Erra, sensuality and tension were the norm in this excellentbook.

Ijust loved how the author revealed Sarah’s emotions, and peeled back with slowclarity, like a blanket revealing a stunningly beautiful goddess, hervulnerabilities. Catch the Fire

It's on! I'm cutting my TV time down, at night, and I'll be going on a reading spree. I plan on reviewing most of what I finish reading so I may as well give you all a sneak peak at what's coming.

First up: I'm currently reading Poppet's ERRA.

Oh my goodness! So far, this witty, sexy little number is creating tension around my normal day. That only happens when I don't want to do the things I'm supposed to be doing because I don't want to stop reading. I'm halfway through the book and I'm noticing each chapter seems to get better than the previous one. I hope to finish this one before the week is out.

Next up: Keith Weaver and his book, The Nefarious: Prince of Shadow

What happens when a 300 year old secret, combined with dark,unknown caverns and a strange entity prey on the souls of the unsuspecting?Find out in The Nefarious. AsI rested on my bed, counting paint cracks on the ceiling, a sound caught myattention.

Drip.

Ithought, great, I either forgot to shut the faucet or some minor repairs wouldhave to be made.

Drip.

Iwas all set to investigate when I realized the sound wasn’t caused by waterstriking the sink.

Drip.

Iremained still, concentrating on identifying the sound. I don’t know why, but an urgency to solve amystery ignited my penchant for adventure. My mind raced with images as to what could have been causing theannoying sound.

DRIP.

Inoticed how the latest drop took longer and in fact, became louder. My stomach churned. Perspiration increased for I hadn’t noticedthe fan had stopped working. It appearedthat the power went out.

“Thankgoodness the sun’s not gone yet.” Imumbled, doing my best to see the positive.

DRIP.

Onceagain I realized the impact of the drop of liquid.

“It’snot raining.”

Athought popped into my mind. I lived onthe top floor and judging by the sickening silence in the neighborhood, theonly possible explanation had to be rain.

“Getup you chicken and look out the window.”

DRIP!

Itgot louder than the last time and it rattled my nerves. I fought to rise from the bed, but for somereason, my head remained on the pillow. I willed my arms to move, yet they remained on the mattress.

“What’shappening?”

Iheard a tremor in my voice.

DRIP!

Imagesof blood, spreading on my linoleum covered floors, shook me to the core. An overwhelming feeling of despair took holdof me. I gasped trying to take in gobsof air. I hadn’t realized that I wasn’tbreathing.

“Mustget up.”

DRIP!Drip.

Myeyes remained wide open. It wasn’t untilI blinked that I realized my stare never broke away from the ceiling’s cracks. Had I hypnotized myself? Was that even possible?

“Moveit!”

Likea Master Sergeant, I ordered my body to cooperate. The time to break the chains of immobilityhad finally arrived.

“Getup you weasel!”

DRIP!Drip. DRIP!

Madness!

Atlast, my arms moved. Slowly, I rose to asitting position. I waited until mybreathing normalized, pleased to finally gaze at the open door. Drawing enough strength to rise and make itthrough the threshold, I entered the hallway.

DRIP!Drip. DRIP!

Igazed down and spotted a puddle of water growing steady, nearing my barefeet.

Ifollowed the trail with my vision and spotted Lucinda, my dead wife, standingby the guest bedroom. She stood nakedand soaked from head to toe.

Iopened my mouth to scream, yet the only sounds I heard were…

DRIP!Drip. DRIP!

Thedark haired beauty floated towards me. Her hands spread wide enough to wrap around my neck.

Ibreathed and yelled, “This is impossible!”

Herclammy fingers gripped my throat. “Die,Cory!” She hissed.

Asshe squeezed my life back to hell, I swore if my prince would give me anotherchance, next time, I’d burn the witch.

We all make hundreds of decisions every day withoutthinking about the consequences. Perhapsit’s because most of the decisions produce a desired result. It starts with deciding on whether or not wewant to get out of bed, to practicing good hygiene, to nourishing our bodies byfulfilling a desire. (Tea, or coffee?)

What about crucial decisions? What would happen if you’re on a crowded busand an imbecile rushes to the only seat available, and allows a mother carryinga newborn to remain standing? My impulsewould be to grab the dude by his throat, and slam him against the doors withthe hope that they’ll open, and he’ll drop into oncoming traffic. (I know. I may have anger issues). Of course, what I’d probably do is get theothers to rally around me and try and talk some sense into the insensitiveclod. If peer pressure doesn’t work,then I’m sure a kind person would be more than happy to give up theirseat. Naturally, my impulse would thenbe to follow the guy, and arrange for a serious “accident” to occur. (It’s probably a horror writer thing).

There’s a mechanism in our brains that won’t allow usto act on our destructive side—our violent impulses. That’s technically a good thing or jailswould be even more overpopulated.

Cheers to maintaining our peaceful side, but don’t beafraid, if the situation calls for it, to let the bad boy/girl out.

A High Octane Ride: Bipedal by Yvonne Bishop

Whatwould you do if in the midst of a terrible accident, your victim changes yourlife forever? What if everything youbelieved in is shattered and another world overwhelms you to the point, you’llnever be the same again? That’s whatYvonne Bishop’s protagonist, Phoenix, is forced to contend with at such blazingspeed that she has no time to escape her bizarre reality.

Bishopspins a tale of nonstop action, barely giving the reader a chance tobreathe. Her sexy scenes don’tdisappoint. If you like werewolves, don’tpass this one up.

Bipedalis well written and edited, but I took issue with the fact there wasn’t time topause. I was forced to remain dirty alittle longer, to starve a little longer, and to read with my eyes turningyellow (hint: bathroom break) for I did not want to put the book down While I’m complaining, I may as well warn youthat there’s some gore, but it flows so fast, it doesn’t deter from thereading. My biggest gripe, I would havepreferred chapters instead of one supersonic ride. Of course, this book is short which addsanother problem for me. Yvonne Bishop’stalents need to be showcased in a longer work.

Nevertheless,Bipedal is a good read at a great price. Overall, this is a solid debut for the author. I look forward to reading her next book.

Backin the 90’s, I used to work for an Armored Truck company which focused onpayroll distribution. One day one of theroutes was short a man, so my boss thought since I was a supervisor, it’d begood to have me report back on any irregularities, if any, on the run.

Irecalled driving the armored van and as I obeyed the crew's suggestion to park thevehicle on the sidewalk, against the building, a tingling sensation began tostir in my gut. While I waited for thecrew to go upstairs to cash checks for a company, I watched the people as theywent about their business. I recalled visitingthe World Trade Center’s observation deck and being awed by how vehicles lookedlike insects.

Beingat ground level was supposed to make me feel safer. Unfortunately, the tingling sensation gotworse. I was tempted to leave the vanand break out in a full out sprint. Ididn’t know what caused me to feel so anxious, but all I knew was that I neededto get my crew out of there.

Assoon as I spotted the crew, a sense of relief began to calm me. Imagine my surprise when the same guard whosuggested I park next to the building’s wall, announced for me to wait whilethey fetched their lunch. At that moment,I became a tyrant and screamed obscenities. The men stood in shock while I unleashed a barrage of cusses, remindingthem of my rank of supervisor. I orderedthem back in the truck and announced that lunch would be acquired on theWestside.

Icouldn’t tell them why I needed to get away from the place. I just knew that if we hadn’t gotten out ofthere, something terrible was going to happen.

Assoon as I turned onto the Westside Highway, a loud explosion got ourattention. While we waited at a redlight, hoards of fire trucks and police vehicles raced back in the direction ofthe World Trade Center.

Afew minutes later, my supervisor radioed, asking with urgency in his voice,about our status. It wasn’t until a fewdays later, when I passed by the scene, that I realized the crater the bombmade was where I had parked the armored van.

I’mguessing my guardian angel did his best to get my attention. Perhaps all my crew’s angels must’ve beenshouting at me to get out of there. AllI know is that since then, I’ve learned to listen to my gut.

Believeme when I say that it pays to listen to the voices. In that case, I didn’t hear them, but I surefelt them.

I’monly sorry that my prediction of an air assault on New York came true a fewyears later. Though I must admit, Inever dreamed terrorists would use commercial airliners like bombs.

Ilook forward to the day when we can put a stop to the madness.

Bloodsucking Freaks!

I consider myself a purist when it comes to vampires. Don't get me wrong. I appreciate a good bending of the rules when it serves a logical purpose. Take Blade. He's a vampire daywalker. Since the explanation was plausible in my warped mind, I can't see anyone else who's made a vampire in the traditional sense, roaming the country roads in daylight. As far as I'm concerned, an attempt at shaking up the genre has served to damage it. Recently, an article was brought to my attention of which I will post a portion of it with Jennifer Lynch's permission.

Now, I'm in total disagreement with her when it comes to one movie in particular. I enjoyed the movie UNDERWORLD. Though I must admit, Jennifer claims we let things go because Kate Beckinsale is super hot! And she's probably right, but I wouldn't place that movie in this particular list. 9 Vampire Movies That Ruined the Genre

The vampire film genre, starting with Nosferatu, began as a horror category with very specific rules for what vampires can and can't do. No sunlight, stakes, or American citizenship. But as time has worn on, the genre has grown to encompass all types of movies from comedy to romance to thriller and everything in between, and vampires can come in forms Dracula himself wouldn't recognize. Some of these films have gracefully and believably expanded the genre for fans while others have turned the category into a cinematic joke. Here are 9 vampire movies that effectively ruined the genre.

TWILIGHT SERIES
This is an obvious choice for movies that ruined the genre for people who normally love it. Of course, for many teenage girls (and even some middle-age women), Twilight's sparkling vampires are the only ones who matter. Not only do these non-traditional immortals prance around in the daylight, they have supernatural strength, drink animal blood rather than that of humans (normally), and spend their free time playing family games of baseball. The author of the Twilight books even admits that she didn't really consider normal vampires when creating her own. Besides the fact that the Cullens, Twilight's clan of vampires, don't fit in with the normal undead, the movie itself is full of bad special effects and teenage angst, and its popularity stakes the death of vampires as we knew them.
VAMPIRE IN BROOKLYN
The vampire in this movie is played by Eddie Murphy. If that doesn't convince you that this is an awful film, you should know that Murphy also plays an alcoholic preacher and dons white face to portray an Italian mobster. These alter egos are explained away by a kind of vampire voodoo Murphy's (main) character uses to take over their bodies. Murphy falls in love with a half-vampire lady cop who is supposed to give the film some sex appeal. The movie's tagline promotes it as "a comic tale of horror and seduction," but really just shows how director Wes Craven was spreading himself too thin between genres. Falling in a weird gray area between comedy and horror flick, Vampire in Brooklyn is neither funny, sexy, nor scary and reminds us how overdone vampire movies are.
DRACULA 3000
Take the classic Dracula story, add Coolio, and set it in space, and you'll haveDracula 3000. In general, when a rapper stars in a film and a classic genre is transported to the final frontier, you know the result is going to be disappointing. But the disaster of Dracula 3000 is even more spectacular than expected. Everything in this movie is terrible, including the writing, acting, and the plot in general. And while the script borrows from the original Dracula using several character names and noting that the vampires hail from the planet Transylvania, the alien vampires don't do justice to the traditional bloodsuckers or the loyal fans of the genre.
ONCE BITTEN
Once Bitten is probably not Jim Carrey's worst movie, but it definitely ranks among the worst vampire movies. Since it's supposed to be a comedy, it accomplishes the purpose the director was going for, but it takes the role of vampire from creepy and mysterious to laughable. Carrey's transformation from human to vampire is overacted, as you might expect, and the movie's climactic scenes involve a dance-off in a high school gym and sex in a coffin. While you might smile occasionally during the film, the premise is slightly confusing, the timeline gets a bit muddled, and the genre here is more teen sex comedy than vampire flick.
UNDERWORLD
Some people seem to really like Underworld but that probably has more to do with Kate Beckinsale's hot bod than with their love of vampires. And most people would admit that the visuals in the film (besides the eye candy of Beckinsale herself) are striking, but the plot and acting of the film cancel out the positives. The conflict takes place between vampires and a species of werewolves, though it didn't divide audiences nearly as much as the Team Edward or Team Jacob debate of Twilight. Most serious vampire fans and critics hate this movie for its poor character development and unnecessarily complicated back story, but teenage dudes and action lovers will probably enjoy it.

Ned Thompson sprinted down the wrong street. He couldn’t believe the dark alley led to theside of a building. He patted thecobblestoned wall, praying for a secret passageway to magically appear.

“Shit!”

He froze upon hearing a tin can as it bounced along thesidewalk. Considering the still nightbrought only humidity, Ned realized his mistake. It had found him.

He turned and squinted, trying his best to see hisenemy as it approached.

“I know you’re there. Show yourself!”

Thoughts of how his best friend, Carl Watkins, had triedto reach for him, popped into his mind. He recalled hearing blood curdling screams while he ran, followed by adisgusting, ripping sound.

“Why are you doing this? What are you? I didn’t hurt anyone.” Beads ofsweat stung his eyes. He leaned his backagainst the wall and continued to feel for an improbable escape.

Again he heard a tin can skip against the concretesidewalk.

“Please! I’msorry. I’ll never do it again. I’ll never allow another child to get hurt again.”

He glanced at the beginning of the alley and spotted alarge silhouette grow against the left wall. The stench of blood increased as the thing approached.

“Go away! I’velearned my lesson. For Christ’s sake letme live!”

The tin can bounced into view and stopped inches fromhis sneakers.

He fought the desire to gag, grimacing until he bit hislip.

A shadow stood perpendicular to the can. He stared wide-eyed as he came face to facewith his nightmare.

“Please, don’t hurt me.”

Faced with no way to escape, he dropped to hisknees. His enemy stepped closer. When his vision adjusted to the shadows, hecringed upon looking at the beast before him.

“Why do you run?”

It spoke using his language. The masculine voice sent chills throughouthis body for it surely did not match its appearance. The creature stood before him with a capacityto mutilate its victims. It appeared asif a human female. She couldn’t havebeen taller than five feet. Blond curlshung from her sides. Sapphire eyesmimicked innocence.

“I beg you, don’t kill me.”

She tilted her head, looking like a confusedchild. But Ned knew not to allow thebeast’s false presentation to lull him into thinking he was safe.

“Why?” she asked.

The fact Ned still lived gave him a semblance ofhope. The beast wanted tocommunicate.

“I don’t understand your question.” He felt his fear slowly lifting into thenight sky, yet his heart refused to calm down. His perspiration remained strong.

“Why did you allow your friend to bully you intowatching him rape and murder all those little girls?”

Ned bawled like a baby. He hung his head as his shoulders shook with every intense sob.

The beast continued, “You could’ve stopped the monsterfrom killing all those innocents. Youhave been found just as guilty, for inaction serves to permeate evil.”

Ned accepted his fate. He peered up at her through clouded eyes. “Kill me, quick!”

The thing put one tiny little girl hand on hisforehead, while picking up the can and remained emotionless.

“I would take your soul, but you lost it the moment youbecame an accomplice to madness.”

She pulled off the lid and sliced the top of his headopen, keeping Ned alive.

“Pain and misery will accompany you in the next realm.”

She dropped the can, lifted the top of his head, scoopedout his brain, and gorged on it while his body fell with a thud next to the tincan.

When she completed her brand of justice, she wiped hermouth clean with Ned’s shirt. Then whistled,kicking the can outside the alley, ready to lure the next predator to hisdoom.

Do you exist? I spend my days focusing on matters ofimportance. Hundreds of tasks which keepme too busy to notice there’s something missing. I wonder if you do the same. Maintain a constant pace, to stop thinking ofwhat awaits.

Nighttime closes inand though my body is worn, it’s not broken. Somehow I manage to distract myself with entertainment. Anything not to think about my reality.

When there’s nothingleft but shadows creeping in, I sit and contemplate about you. Are your eyes dry? Do you suffer from the misery which keeps usapart?—Fate.

Have I seen you, thelove of my life and not known you were near? Maybe we’ve already stood next to each other on line, perhaps waiting toget into a restaurant or a movie. Wereyou that close only to have the controllers of fate keep us from gazing intoeach other’s eyes?

How much longer canwe live without each other? What I wouldgive to stroke your hair, caress your cheeks, drink in your warm smile.

The shadows fall anddarkness blankets the sky. Starssparkle, keeping the glowing moon company. It doesn’t seem fair that Mr. Moon has the brightest companions, yet I sitalone with my thoughts, trying hard to picture your face.

Another day departs,leaving me with no choice but to lie in wait, clinging on to hope that perhapstomorrow will be the day when we can gaze into each other’s eyes and say, yes Iexist and I was made just for you.
