Remember When

Remember When
By Nomar Knight

Remember when we held hands
Soaked in the sunrays
Felt the sand as we strolled
A breeze blowing your hair
Revealing your magnificent eyes

Remember when I held you
Our eyes inches apart
I swore in that instant
I saw us roaming free
Happy to be us

Remember when our lips met
Sharing love
Stirred with emotion
Lost in the world of us
Nothing else existed

Remember when you shuddered
Intensity tingled my skin
Drunk in your scent
Basking in the magic
We made together

Remember when the mist of sadness
Soaked our bodies
Alerting us to the inevitable
Circumstance do us part
Amid sorrow's lonely dance

Remember when I said things change
Love must win the battle
Hope is our companion
For now I'll remember
Our precious time together

Do You Exist?

Do you exist?
By Nomar Knight

Do you exist?  I spend my days focusing on matters of importance.  Hundreds of tasks which keep me too busy to notice there’s something missing.  I wonder if you do the same.  Maintain a constant pace, to stop thinking of what awaits.
Nighttime closes in and though my body is worn, it’s not broken.  Somehow I manage to distract myself with entertainment.  Anything not to think about my reality.
When there’s nothing left but shadows creeping in, I sit and contemplate about you.  Are your eyes dry?  Do you suffer from the misery which keeps us apart?—Fate.
Have I seen you, the love of my life and not known you were near?  Maybe we’ve already stood next to each other on line, perhaps waiting to get into a restaurant or a movie.  Were you that close only to have the controllers of fate keep us from gazing into each other’s eyes?
How much longer can we live without each other?  What I would give to stroke your hair, caress your cheeks, drink in your warm smile.
The shadows fall and darkness blankets the sky.  Stars sparkle, keeping the glowing moon company.  It doesn’t seem fair that Mr. Moon has the brightest companions, yet I sit alone with my thoughts, trying hard to picture your face.
Another day departs, leaving me with no choice but to lie in wait, clinging on to hope that perhaps tomorrow will be the day when we can gaze into each other’s eyes and say, yes I exist and I was made just for you.

Lost With You

Lost With You
By Nomar Knight

I'd like to get lost with you
In a world where tears
Born not from feeling blue
Nor brought on by fears
Add to this blissful joy

I want to get lost with you
In a place where pain
Isn't part of a daily stew
Doesn't drive us insane
Only infuses our love

I need to get lost with you
My breath cuts away
Because that kiss you blew
Just makes my day
Can't let this feeling go away

I must get lost with you
Together we shine
We become one not two
Said you'd always be mine
Until the end of time

So please
Let me
Get
Lost with you

Nature's Warning: Earthquake Rocks East Coast

Nature’s Warning: Earthquake Rocks East Coast
By Nomar Knight

An ungodly rumbling caused more than the east coast to tremble.  The recent earthquake, which originated in Virginia, did more than disrupt everyone’s routine.  The blast of nature assisted in shedding light on the possibility of an extreme change for life as we know it.  What most people hate to admit, lies inside them, rose to the surface as many grew terrified of the possibility that the end of the world, or perhaps a catastrophic terrorist attack was at play.
Moments after the event, I received a call from a loved one.  I heard the fear in her voice.  The older a person gets, the more aware they become of their mortality.  At that moment, I was at a loss to find the words that would comfort her.
My mind wandered with the images she described, first of how she visited her brother and sat with her husband in a loveseat.  Their familiar encounter literally shaken as the building swayed, and their loveseat trembled.  Shock quickly transformed to sheer panic, and instead of looking to position over a doorway, or dive under solid furniture, they said their goodbyes and headed to the same place the majority went to, the crowded streets.
Images of concrete breaking open and swallowing people as they danced for their lives, doing their best to negotiate each new crater, popped in my mind.  As I listened to her tormented account, I envisioned skyscrapers collapsing all around them.  I felt hopeless when the best advice I could offer was for them to remain outside, away from buildings for at least an hour.
Perhaps my advice would have been useless if the situation were worse, but the one thing I do know from personal experience is that when our number is up, there’s nothing we could do to change the outcome.  Death waits for no one and eventually, will meet us all.
Nevertheless, I’m pleased that as of this writing, the situation did not get worse and that no one got hurt.  Yet I can’t help but wonder what the underlying purpose of the event could be.  Was the seismic event that got everyone’s attention just a prelude to the end of the world?
While the scientists look for answers, I’ll chalk it up to nature’s way of providing us with a wakeup call.  My advice, live life as if each moment is your last.

Catch you on the dark side

Stop the Bleeding

Stop the Bleeding
By Nomar Knight

Loneliness calls on misery
When I open my eyes
And realize you're not here

You didn't mean to hurt me
Still I ask fate why
Why can't I have you near

I bleed from every crevice
Each drop spilled takes
Another piece of my soul

Loving memories leave me breathless
No matter how much losing you aches
I won't let reality take its toll

Never-ending hope breathes on
For I refuse to give up on us
Can't allow myself to end this pleading

I sit up till dawn
Without making a fuss
Praying for you to stop the bleeding

Know this
These trying times
Are draining my soul

Screams in the Night

Screams in the Night
By Nomar Knight

Waiting for an axe to fall
Sweat my sole companion
Suspicious whispers roamed the hall
Trapped in hell's canyon

Gripped mildewed walls
While I slid with trepidation
Black widows heeded call
Prompting my hesitation

But when whispers changed their tune
My heart pumped out of rhythm
As if crawling over wicked dunes
Couldn't let her be a victim

Screeching screams in the night
Inflated all lust for life
Had to make things right
Smashing door to save my wife

Deceit my eyes did see
For my maiden jumped with pleasure
She reached the O without me
Sacred spot ruined treasure

Pathetic pleas plastered in silence
Lost amidst orgasmic screams
Wicked wife took evil's guidance
Shattering all my hopes and dreams

With maddening fury I struck
A blow flashing righteous light
My sword sealed their luck
Forever joined by treacherous plight

Paid the devil his rent
A noose gripped deadly tight
Terrible sounds could not relent
Sordid screams reached new height

Not even hell's burning light
Could shut out despicable sight
Gripped reigns of fire tight
Haunted by screams in the night

Look Into My Eyes

Lately, my poems seem to have titles of songs in common.  Even though I hadn't heard the songs, I feel it shows how universal love is, though this offering doesn't have anything to do with a Bryan Adams song. Thanks for visiting the halls of Knight Chills.

Look Into My Eyes
By Nomar Knight

Look into my eyes
See the pain of losing you
Sleeping in a garden
Waking in a desert
My thirst for you won't quench

Look into my eyes
See us holding hands
Barefoot on the beach
Watching how your hair
Swayed in the summer breeze

Look into my eyes
See them gleam with joy
Raindrops couldn't taint
Our magical moment
When I tasted your lips

Look into my eyes
See how they bleed
My broken heart melts
Nothing left to do
But wait for another chance

Look into my eyes
See the hurt heal
Wondrous memories remain
Lifting hope to the heavens
Delivering peace in our hearts

Whisper My Name

Whisper My Name

Whisper My Name
By Nomar Knight

Searched the corridors of loneliness
Aching to taste sweet tender kiss
Abandoned by time and place
Living through erratic pace

Whisper my name so I can hear
Unending love so far so near
While you're together who do you see
When you caress him is it really me

Misery fills my cup with tears
Drowning hope with all our fears
Precious moments can't be replaced
In memories they are embraced

Whisper my name so he can know
Our endless love must always flow
In moonstruck nights remember me
Twinkled delights will set you free

Whisper my name in the dead of night
Angels will sing your chorus in flight
For no man can change our sweet fate
Whisper my name before it's too late

Unfinished Gems

Unfinished Gems

There's an anomaly across the art world that may be often overlooked.  Unfinished works in art and music have created a mystique which has lured many an aficionado.  If the average person doesn't complete something, rest assured the item in question would most likely not be hanging in a museum for art lovers to enjoy.  However, when its creator was someone famous who did not have an opportunity to dot the i's, (complete the details), then intriguing minds become fascinated by what was left behind.
From Mozart to da Vinci, incredible works that either never got completed, or were finished by an apprentice, have captured the imaginations of future composers and artists.  On this note, I read an article sent in by Jena Ellis, from Online Certificate Programs, which provides some interesting facts about this intriguing phenomenon.  Here's an excerpt of the article.  You may read the rest of it here.

10 Most Famous Unfinished Pieces of Art

Some artists are so gifted that even their unfinished works are considered strokes of genius. As with any project that requires intense focus and a large sacrifice of time, achieving art perfection can become an arduous task, making it seemingly impossible to follow through on an ambitious plan. The following pieces are more remembered for their beauty and meaning than their unfinished states — the artists who created them are hardly considered slackers, as each poured their hearts and souls into all of their works.
  1. Adoration of the Magi, Leonardo da Vinci

It was all or nothing for Leonardo, who was commissioned to create an altarpiece for the monastery of San Donato a Scopeto near Florence in March 1481. He essentially had two-and-a-half years to complete it — if he took any longer, he wouldn't receive any compensation. Sure enough, he was lured away from the project the following year once he was offered a steady income from the Duke of Milan. The monks then commissioned Fillipino Lippi to create their altarpiece. Since 1670, Leonardo's piece has been displayed in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
  2. Leonardo's Horse, Leonardo da Vinci

This one never left the planning stages. In 1482, Leonardo accepted the project from Duke of Milan Ludovico il Moro, who wanted it to be the largest equestrian statue in the world, dedicated to his father Francesco. It was an unrealistic goal at the time and Leonardo recognized that he probably wouldn't receive the necessary funding. French soldiers invaded Milan in 1499 and the remaining clay model was destroyed by archers who were said to have used it for target practice.
  3. Old Man Shading His Eyes With His Hand, Rembrandt

Rembrandt forged his reputation with his etchings. The Three Crosses and The Hundred Guilder Print are two of his famous works, both were completed unlike Old Man Shading His Eyes With His Hand, which he left unsigned and undated. Unlike most of his pieces, he worked on the figure before completing the setting, focusing on the contrast around the sitter's face and hands. Nobody knows why he left it unfinished, and some have speculated that he was merely satisfied with capturing the moment.
  4. Adoration of the Shepherds, Hendrik Goltzius

Artwork based on biblical narrative has long been popular among history's best painters, sculptors and engravers. Goltzius dramatically depicted the Adoration of the Shepherds, a scene in which the shepherds witness Jesus's birth in Bethlehem. Noticeably, he left out the manger and baby Jesus, but the exquisite depiction of the three shepherds around Mary more than makes up for it, which may be why he halted work.
  5. Unfinished Portrait, Elizabeth Shoumatoff

Before attending the founding conference of the United Nations, FDR decided to spend some precious free time at his health and relaxation retreat in Warm Springs, Georgia. Work on his painting began at noon on April 12, 1945 when he was being served lunch, but was disrupted when he began to experience unbearable pain in the back of his head, causing him to lose consciousness and slump over in his chair. Diagnosed with a massive cerebral hemorrhage, he died three hours later. Shoumatoff later commemorated the 32nd president by finishing the portrait, which now hangs next to the original in Warm Springs.

Fear the Unknown

Fear the Unknown

Fear the Unknown

By Nomar Knight

Once again I find myself on the short end of the stick, wondering when people are going to learn to accept fate for what it is.  It’s a cruel, but necessary learning process.  My name is Mr. Coffin.  I teach high school English.  Every year I’m forced to move to a new school because where I reside, common sense doesn’t exist.  I perform to the best of my abilities.  Gain popularity with the students, and yet, I don’t even have a classroom.
It amazes me how my students constantly overachieve in the standardized tests, yet the mediocre teachers continue to get rewarded.  So as I sit in my Honda, wondering how I can change my luck, a thought occurs to me.  I haven’t identified the enemy.  At first glance, it appears that another frightened teacher, unwilling to deal with the unknown, used her feminine tears to convince the powers that be to screw me again.  At least, that’s how other teachers will view her act of treachery.  Too bad they don’t know that I’m not an ordinary teacher.  In fact, I am no ordinary human.
At last, the troubled teacher arrives in her grey vehicle.  A hint of sorrow touches my heart for I hate to see anyone cave in to fear.  I mumble to myself, “Best put this one out of her misery.”
I open the glove compartment and brush my fingers on the handle of a seven inch blade.  I stare at her as she finally exits her car.
Danger!
My heart races and slams against my chest.  The anticipation of blood causes my manhood to begin to rise.  Images of brutal beatings bombard my mind.  It feels as if my darkest thoughts become reality.  I see myself moving in slow motion.  Another version of me hurries to the teacher and plunges the blade in her spine.  I even hear my imitator whisper, “How does it feel to get stabbed in the back?”
A horn blows, regaining my attention.  In the far distance I hear a tormented soul scream for her life.  For one instant, as the haze clears, an alternate reality seals off the visions and I sit in my vehicle.  My fingers stroke not the handle of a knife, but of a hairbrush.
I take a deep breath and watch as the troubled teacher carries books up the stairs.  I grin, thankful that in this dimension, violence usually is the byproduct of poor choices.  Perhaps in an alternate universe I committed an unspeakable act, but in my current existence, I choose to meet fear of the unknown head-on.  I choose to rise to whatever challenges life has to offer.  As I retrieve a briefcase from the trunk of my car I mumble, “Lord, protect me from evil.”
I go to the office, ready to take on the groups that the frightened teacher left behind.  I wonder if I am given a classroom, how many rodents will come out of hiding to greet me.
