Unleash the Power Within by Nomar Knight

Unleash the Power Within

By Nomar Knight

There are times I wonder why the world conspires against me. It seems I'm good at stringing numerous days when I lose myself and can't get anything done. It's as if outside influences come together for the sole purpose of distracting me, keeping me away from the things I love to do.

Of course, that's all a bunch of malarkey. I believe we attract negative or positive outcome by our demeanor, our philosophy of life. While it may be a challenge to find the good in a bad situation, it's important not to get hung up on gloomy scenarios. (Unless you plan on using them for writing horror). :-)

For all the times I have struggled to get things done, I realize the biggest culprit for when I fail to achieve my goals is me. I am my own worse enemy. When I miss deadlines, when I fail to take action to make things happen, I alone am responsible for my shortcomings.

It's unfortunate how many people are quick to blame their problems on others or even fate. They start playing the if only game. If only I were rich, if only I were slimmer, if only, if only. It's all a pointless waste of time. To truly discover the answers you seek, the possible cure for what ails you,  it's best to start with self examination. I don't mean a physical check for any anomalies throughout the body. I'm thinking more along the lines of a reality check.

Perhaps you're one of those people that attract strong, dominant types, like my character, Lorraina Sandoval. (aka, ruthless vampire goddess) Having someone around that treats you as inferior will zap your self-confidence. To regain control, you should ask yourself, "Am I push over?" If the answer is no then keep asking questions. Write down reasons why you think bad stuff happens to you. Now keep in mind that if you think you deserve to be punished then you should see a therapist,  pronto. However, if you're angry at yourself  for allowing bad things to throw you off your game then the solution is within reach. If your thinking affects your behavior and negativity surrounds you and you want things to change then change the way you think.

For many of life's scenarios, solutions can be found when clarity of thought is achieved. As for those curves that life throws at us, while the answers may be hidden deep within us, sometimes we have to wait for the right time. I always find that when I can't solve my problems, it's probably because I'm being dishonest with myself. That's when it's best to involve a close companion. True friends don't pull any punches.

Good luck to you, my friends, and don't let anyone stop you from keeping life positive, not even when the culprit is you.

Catch you on the dark side.

A Soul Corrupted

A Soul Corrupted

By Nomar Knight

Anger can be a most useful emotion. Unfortunately, most people allow raw anger to turn into loathing. I’ve heard some people say that humans manifest their feelings about themselves when lashing out at others. Although this may be true, anger is best reserved for help with menial tasks such as prying open a stubborn lid on a jar. Carrying a grudge is indeed like swallowing something toxic and expecting the object of their anger to die as if that person were drinking the tainted blood coursing through their veins. Inevitably, when the fuming tyrant realizes what’s boiling in their insides does not affect their target, another sliver of the angry soul burns off and permeates into the mountain of unnecessary despair.
As luck would have it, there are numerous ways to burn up the toxic emotion and use it for good instead of evil. One way is to start an exercise program. A good couple mile run can do wonders in redirecting the draining emotion. However, if you prefer exercising the brain over fine tuning the body, then a great way to use anger is through imaginary characters. Through writing, one can exact vengeance in a way that would not permit the aggressor to be thrown in jail. In reality, I’ve read news reports where mugging victims that reacted with anger got injured or killed. I say True Death would be extremely counterproductive.
Now, for those stubborn wannabe vigilantes reading this, if you insist on staying angry, then perhaps a quiet way to let out your dark side is to be knighted into the realm of witchcraft. No, I’m kidding of course. Not everyone can possess my powers. Not everyone can call upon the forces of vengeance from the supernatural realm and meat out a fitting punishment. Don’t worry. I haven’t killed any characters in at least a month.
At any rate, if you take one thing away from this blog entry is that anger is indeed a wasted emotion that would be best channeled into something productive.
By the way, if you really want to get even, then smile at your enemy and forgive them. You may catch them off guard and release the poison from your soul once and for all.

Beware of the Future

The future is an opaque mirror. Anyone who tries to look into it sees nothing but the dim outlines of an old and worried face. ~Jim Bishop

Sometimes we spend too much time in the past or get caught up with all the troubles in the present, therefore making the future look bleak. In times such as these we need to hold on to optimism. We must hold on to it for dear life or risk falling into an abyss where sunlight is extinguished by despair. Don’t fall into a cold, lonely place designed to consume positive energy and twist it into swirls of mortifying dread.

How can we be sure not to fall into a trap set by our desire to know what will happen next? The answer: by remembering we must take corrective measures within ourselves. If you find yourself at odds with others then perhaps it would be prudent to examine why they displease you. Are you merely projecting what you dislike about yourself? Take stock of what you have, where you are, and where you want to be, and research. Look at the people that have what you want and ask yourself: what did they have to sacrifice? Then ask yourself if you are truly willing to perhaps, give up more. Not all of us live parallel lives. Many different people must travel their unique roads in order to get to their promise land.

The future is an opaque mirror so take the time to live and enjoy the moment for in the end, if it is written in the stars that you will achieve your goals; then it will be so. Take it from me; life’s too short to sweat the small stuff. Make every moment count and things will fall into place.

Happy Writing!
