Sacred Simplicity
By Nomar Knight
Just want to live in peace
And not have to worry about you
No more riots in the streets
And people with nothing to do
Don't want to hear whose to blame
While children go hungry
Stop playing this lame game
Only caring about your popularity
So why can't we feed the poor
Is it wrong to seek out solidarity
We're not putting up with this no more
Come give us our sacred simplicity
While you bicker about getting rich
Keep taking every last scrap
Throw us deeper in a ditch
Take us off the economic map
World powers get stronger
Prices rage out of control
Old ways remain no longer
A nation loses its soul
So why can't we solve our woes
Let's stick to clarity
Don't tell us that's how it goes
Give us our sacred simplicity
Attack problems with smarts
Think in human terms
Stop creating false starts
And risk giving us all germs
Still controlling the masses
Keep the working man down
Clearly dividing the classes
So many suits filled by clowns
So why can't you do what's right
Quit confusing action with distraction
Raise our world to new heights
Give us peace and satisfaction

A Knight Chills poem.
that is indeed sacred simplicity...and you ask many of the same questions that i do...though not as beautiful as yours...smiles. love the cadence of this...
ReplyDeleteWow, very powerful Nomar, and love the questions you raise. Strong poem.
ReplyDeleteyeah - some good questions and thoughts in your poem nomar...also a very good title...nice..
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the kind words. I believe it shouldn't matter what political party we identify ourselves with. We should all strive to make this country greater than what it is and to do what we need to make all our people more educated and healthier and hopefully; more productive.
ReplyDeleteVery profound and true to todays issues. I love the poetry, very cool.
