Lonely Echo

Lonely Echo
By Nomar Knight

I sit in solitude
Waiting for a sign
That I'm not forgotten

The sound of rocking
Back and forth
Keeps me company

A starless night
Tries to muffle
My mourning cries

Cold breeze whips by
Vague whispers caress
Awaking curiosity

I lean closer to the edge
Where heartache rules
Listening for your voice

I could barely hear
You calling my name
As teardrops fall

With pounding dreams
And outstretched hope
I rise to praise the miracle

But when sounds sling back
A deadly dose strikes
And I collapse again

Left to a merciless fate
I relive the agony
Of this lonely echo
