Timeless Lovers Dance by Ranee Dillon and Nomar Knight

Here’s a poem initiated by Ranee Dillon on twitter as her words served to inspire me.  This is our volley of words, bleeding from our poetic essence and now on the pages of Knight Chills.

Timeless Lovers Dance
By Ranee Dillon and Nomar Knight

Ranee:

Can you hear the call of my heart?
Though bruised it is not broken
It lies in wait for your words to waken
The dreamer slumbering within my soul

Nomar:

Yes I hear your heart.
Neither bruised nor broken
It beats the sustenance called life
Awakening this dreamer to your kind soul

Ranee:

Breathless
I am lost in soulful words
Moving my heart to tears
Teary smiles

Nomar:

Ah, to kiss those tears away
To be lost in your soulful gaze
Balance restoring
For together—our hearts—join as one

Ranee:

Beating a melody
Caught on the wind
Together we fall into the stars
Lost in a timeless lovers dance
The universe echoes our love

Nomar:

Sweetest of sounds
Your voice mimics the cry of angels
Covering us in a vortex
Abandoned by time
A world smiles

Ranee:

As the light of two souls spirit the sky
Flowing with the Northern lights
A prismic painted vision
Of passions wake

Nomar:

Lustful shivers course through my veins
Blinding light feeding desire
Until your warm touch
Tantalizes our heavenly unification

Ranee:

In bliss, I lose my tender heart
To a touch that burns my skin
Captured— I cannot think or breathe
I’ll hold you now within

Nomar:

With each caress, I lose myself
As I bask in your voluptuous scent
A fire burning deep within
My senses alive as if for the first time

Release The Beast Inside You

Release the Beast Inside You

We are all capable of allowing our inner beast to come out and play, but when we do; shame slaps us into recognizing that a stranger lives inside us. ~ The Book of Tortured Souls

Now that the holiday season has its greedy claws upon us it’s important to remember who we are as individuals.  I say embrace your dark side.  As a writer I’m always on the lookout for new and interesting characters.  So I understand since I’ll be travelling back to my roots this holiday season that perhaps something sinister will present itself while I’m celebrating with family and friends. Of course, I’m hoping that whatever evil lies ahead keeps its distance away from loved ones.

Here are a few things that may trigger the beast inside me:

  • 1.      When I pass through security to board the plane I must not allow the temptation to get naked to overtake me.  I know it’s the best way to avoid the darn body scanners, but why scare the heck out of everyone, including any innocent children that may be present.

  • 2.      When the security person frisks me I must bite my lip, grin and bear it even if he or she touches my privates.  Normally when an unauthorized person grabs my gonads or buttocks I would either punch them or give them the horny face.  If it’s someone authorized, I expect them to whisper encouraging words like: “Wow or you really are a sexy beast, aren’t you?”

  • 3.      If I see someone committing odd behavior like staring too long at a beautiful woman or attempting to sniff a female’s shoes, I must resist the urge to either ask the stalker for his autograph by making a public spectacle of the fact he’s staring at a woman or asking the lady if she was able to get all the vomit off her shoes.
  • 4.      Resist the urge to shut a screaming child’s mouth with duct tape and threaten him with my mobster voice.
  • 5.      Do my best to avoid a long battle for the armrest.  Darn airlines leave enough space for small alien creatures and not overweight humans like me. I know I’ll miss my axe.
  • 6.       Try not to throw back the small bag of chips and not complain about having some coffee with my water.  Yes, the coffee is that watered down.  I suppose it could be worse like drinking blood.
  • 7.      I must stop assuming that another passenger is out to steal my laptop.  I’m sure that only a small percentage will be miscreants and losers.
  • 8.      I should try to avoid visions of throwing any annoying passengers off the plane while at 30, 000 feet.  Why get my hopes up when 5000 feet will do just fine.
  • 9.      If the airplane hits too many air pockets I should resist temptation to choke the life out of the pilot thereby announcing to the second in command he just got a promotion.
  • 10.  I should relax and shut my eyes even if I know a pervert is constantly staring at me.  The beast inside me would apply a choke-hold and tell everyone that my “friend” needed hands on sleep therapy.
  • 11.  Avoid falling asleep at all costs.  Everyone on that plane has a story to tell and I’m just the guy to tell it.
  • 12.  I should not take a little time to write doomsday poetry and recite it aloud for all to hear.  Here’s a possible title to my first poem: We’re All Gonna Die.
  • 13.  And finally when the person next to me asks what I do for a living, I should resist the temptation to tell the truth, that I order others to torture and murder just about every day of the week. Wink. Wink.

I’m definitely looking forward to this vacation.  I hope you enjoyed my self portrait.

See you on the dark side.

Road Rage: Alternatives to Bitch Slapping

I recently had an experience where I lost my patience with another driver and had one of my passengers flip her the bird.  The cause of my woes refused to allow me to merge into the lane only to have to stop further and allow the natural merge to take place, hence prompting our unoriginal salute.  She answered back by pulling out The Bible and waving it.  I imagine she sent us straight to hell.  Funny how the cause of road rage, the bible wielding nutcase, exhibited more rage than I did and she had the gumption to hide behind religion.

Here are a few tidbits I found around the net.

Road Rage Shutdown
by Author Unknown

I was driving in Manhattan. There's traffic, nobody's moving...the guy behind me is honking just at me. He kept yelling at me. I decided that I'm gonna argue with this guy, but I'm gonna argue about something else. I'm not having his argument; I'm having mine. So he's like, "Go!" And I go, "Well, give me back my jacket!" And he stopped. I was like, "Yeah, you got my jacket! Give it back! I said you could borrow it, not have it! You're stretching it, you fat pig! Give it back, now!" He got back in his car, and he locked his doors.

If you can demonstrate that you're more insane than the lunatic who wants to battle, then you may slap some metaphorical sense into him like the lady did.

Road Rage

Yet another example of how road rage can transform people into real life monsters.  Check out the angry cat below.

Even the most tamed cats can lose their patience.

Have you ever fought for a parking spot?

This reminds of the time I was waiting 45 minutes for a parking spot in Manhattan and when a car finally pulled out, another vehicle stormed past me and stole the spot.  The bad-ass dude actually got out of his car and tried to intimidate me by scowling.  In my mind I pulled out my nine millimeter and pumped 6 shots into his skull. But in reality I drove up the block, took a spot further away, bought a quart of beer, sat on the bench and studied the bad-ass dude's car.  He got so worried that I would do something to his vehicle, he left.  True story.

I leave you with:

SIGNS THAT YOU SUFFER "ROAD RAGE"
* For lack of a more effective weapon, you find yourself threatening other drivers with the cigarette lighter.

* You exchange your Uzi with laser sighting for a "more serious weapon."

* You've stopped wearing pants in the car to make it easier to moon tailgaters.

* Local Crips now have a hand signal for "Get Off The Road, That Psycho's Coming!"

* On your license, under "restrictions", it says, "Valium Required."

* That Yugo hood ornament on your 4X4 is not *actually* an ornament.

* The only thing that calms you down is your trusty Megadeth CD.

* You swear more before you get to work than most gangsta rappers do all day.

* You threaten to run over the person in front of you, even though you're in line for communion.

* The car's a year old, but you're already on your fifth horn.

* Your saw blades don't work, your voice is out of sync with your mouth, and Speed Racer has just beaten you in another race.

* You've traded your plastic statue of St. Christopher for one of A.C. Cowlings.

* You'd flash your brights at that slow dumbass Jacob ahead of you if your buggy only had headlights.

* You've plowed more pedestrians than Wilt Chamberlain.

Remember, it's a crazy holiday season and we should do our best to get along. Happy Holidays and be careful out there.

See you on the dark side.

Radiance Blooming in the Night by Jezri

Radiance Blooming in the Night by Jezri

Radiance Blooming In The Night
by Jezri

He cried, weeping at her beauty,
As she slept beneath the moonlight,
Her hair, a halo around her face,
Radiance Blooming in the night.

Snow fell, gently kissing her cheeks,
Caressing her alabaster skin,
And melting against her perfect lips,
The soft flakes resting upon chin.

He watched, silently in awe,
Of the perfection he perceived,
Forgiving her deceptive ways,
In the splendor Death achieved.

Into her final resting place,
Beneath the willow tree,
He laid her in the grave he’d dug,
Betwixt the other three.

Then following the tree lined path,
He hurried home to her,
His new love waiting there for him,
Who held his hearts allure.

Until the day that always comes,
When her beauty fades away,
And imperfection comes to light,
Revealing deceptions sway.

Then she’ll join the others,
Where beauty can once more bloom,
In the grove of Willow trees
Preserved within her tomb.

Invasion of the Walking Dead

Invasion of The Walking Dead
By Nomar Knight

The popularity of zombies is back in full force now that AMC brings us The Walking Dead every Sunday. The show demonstrates the horrors of the dead coming back to life and rapidly devouring humans in the ultimate battle for survival.

The notion that an apocalypse of this nature may be possible is what scares me.  Too often throughout history, man has disregarded basic principles of right to life for selfish and immoral gains.  But let’s leave the serious stuff for another blog post.  It’s time to make light of an otherwise horrible situation.  I gathered a few humorous pictures from around the net for your enjoyment.  And don’t forget to watch the season finale of The Walking Dead, tonight.

They Forgot School.  Plenty of zombies in there.

I didn't make a good zombie.

Modern Mummies: Sleepwalkers Get Away With Murder

Crime? Nah, I just want ice cream.

Modern Mummies: Sleepwalkers Get Away With Murder
By Nomar Knight

What lies deep in the heart of a killer may manifest itself out in the open for all to see for the sleepwalker uses the veil of uncertainty to do his evil deed.  Sleepwalking as a defense rarely pans out.  The old way to prove a person on trial for committing a crime under the spell of sleepwalking was to prove a longstanding problem throughout childhood.  Modern science may be closer to identifying just who is genuinely inflicted with the illness and who’s trying to get away with murder.

“Sleepwalking is the phenomenon whereby a person’s brain is partially asleep but his body is able to move about. People suffering from sleepwalking will rise out of what seems to be deep sleep and behave as if they are awake. They do not normally respond to people around them and do not remember what happened the following day” (1).

Hollywood utilized this premise for years, but at least they wrapped their sleepwalkers with white bandages and called them mummies.  Nowadays it’s difficult to identify the monsters from those afflicted with the illness, and I wonder if some posers have gotten away with murder.
Screw the economy! I want a raise!

Let’s look at a few real life cases.

In a video titled Sleepwalking Crimes, the notion of these crimes existing raised important questions. “Some of the most notorious sleepwalking criminals depicted in the film include Scott Falater, who, in 1997, stabbed his wife 44 times; Michael Ricksgers, who, in 1993, shot his wife in the middle of the night; and Kenneth Parks, who drove 14 miles and stabbed his mother-in-law to death. In most of these cases, the jury found evidence of a motive or concluded that the actions were too deliberate to constitute sleepwalking. But for Kenneth Parks, the jury acknowledged his defense. He was acquitted because it was determined that he was sleepwalking at the time of the incident—a verdict illustrating that genuine sleepwalkers can be held legally unaccountable for a sleepwalking crime” (F.A. Holman, 2007).

Note: to stab your wife 44 times tells me that it was a crime of passion, but I’m not an expert on the subject so I can’t say one way or another as to whether Falater was awake at the time.  Now Ricksgers may have shot his wife, but perhaps he should have said he wanted to clean the gun that day, forgot and somehow had the gun in his hands while sleepwalking.  I guess some people can’t handle a divorce so they eliminate their spouse. As for Mr. Parks, he drove a long way to do what perhaps many people can only dream about doing- killing the mother-in-law.  I wouldn’t know, since I got along well with my ex-wife’s mother.

While Hollywood glorified the sleepwalker which eventually became an iconic figure, real life is grappling with this question: “Can you be blamed for crimes in your sleep?”  According to an article written by Linda Geddes in 2009, scientists are making advances in determining if the person committing the sleepwalking crime is really afflicted with the sleep disorder.  She mentioned a specific case.  Here’s an excerpt of her article:

“A MAN strangles his wife while dreaming about fighting off intruders in his sleep. Does that make him mad, bad or innocent? Recent research is helping to unpick these issues, and may help reveal who, if anyone, bears responsibility in such cases.

Last week, British man Brian Thomas appeared in court on a murder charge after strangling his wife as they slept in their camper van. The prosecution withdrew the charges after three psychiatrists testified that locking him up would serve no useful purpose. The judge said that Thomas bore no responsibility for his actions.”

Pardon my interruption, but how can killing someone and then not keeping the man in custody not serve a useful purpose? I believe they should’ve remanded him to undergo studies to see if a cure could be found.  At least he should’ve been locked up at night, but in a facility designed to study the disorder.

Linda Geddes elaborates further, “Thomas had a genuine sleep disorder, but Cramer-Bornemann is concerned that in many other cases, the sleepwalking and other sleep-related defenses are misused. Studies on the causes of sleepwalking may eventually make it easier to identify who has a genuine sleep disorder that could occasionally result in violence, and who is making it up.”

“Last month, Ursula Voss of Bonn University in Germany and colleagues reported that even during lucid dreaming - a state in which some people claim to be able to control their dreams - some areas of the brain associated with intent stayed offline, while other areas associated with consciousness were active. "As long as you are in a dream, you have no free rein on your actions and emotions," says Voss (Sleep , vol 32, p 1191).”

If you’d like to read further feel free to click on the links to respective sites.

Real life mummies don’t act like the Hollywood characters and they usually don’t dress like them.  It’s difficult to discern if they’re awake or not, but what is really frightening is that some commit terrible crimes such as rape and murder and there may be nothing the law can do about it.

I ask: who fights for the victims?

See you on the dark side.

Psychopaths Seek Killer Representation

Anyone know a good lawyer? We're not too guilty.

Psychopaths Seek Killer Representation
by Nomar Knight

It's not easy to kill people in front of audiences and get away with it.  Horror characters are under enormous pressure to literally get away with murder.  Not all of them have supernatural powers.  Some just wear strange costumes.
Well, I'm here to complain about the flaws that hardworking psychopaths face during their legal representation.  You'd be surprised to discover that not all horror characters are rich, therefore they get thrown to the lions.  Some of the lawyers representing the highly skilled artists, (Carving the skin off victims while they're screaming takes great skill and patience.) find it reprehensible that their defense lawyers are completely incompetent.  Here are a few examples of actual transcriptions.

These are from a book called Disorder in the American
Courts, and are things people actually said in court, word
for word, taken down and now published by court reporters
that had the torment of staying calm while these exchanges
 were actually taking place.

  ____________________________________________
ATTORNEY: Now doctor, isn't it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he doesn't know about it until the next morning?
WITNESS: Did you actually pass the bar exam?
 ____________________________________
ATTORNEY: The youngest son, the twenty-year-old, how old is he?
WITNESS: He's twenty, much like your IQ.
____________________________________
ATTORNEY: She had three children, right?
WITNESS: Yes.
 ATTORNEY: How many were boys?
WITNESS: None.
 ATTORNEY: Were there any girls?
WITNESS: Your Honor, I think I need a different attorney.
Can I get a new attorney?
 ____________________________________________
ATTORNEY: How was your first marriage terminated?
 WITNESS: By death.
ATTORNEY: And by whose death was it terminated?
  WITNESS: Take a guess.
  ____________________________________________
ATTORNEY: Can you describe the individual?
WITNESS: He was about medium height and had a beard.
ATTORNEY: Was this a male or a female?
WITNESS: Unless the Circus was in town I'm going
 with male.
______________________________________
ATTORNEY: Doctor, how many of your autopsies have you
 performed on dead people?
WITNESS: All of them.. The live ones put up too much
of a fight.
______________________________________
ATTORNEY: Do you recall the time that you examined the body?
WITNESS: The autopsy started around 8:30 p.m.
ATTORNEY: And Mr. Denton was dead at the time?
WITNESS: If not, he was by the time I finished.
 ____________________________________________

 And the best for last:

ATTORNEY: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy,
did you check for a pulse?
 WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for blood pressure?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for breathing?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: So, then it is possible that the patient
was alive when you began the autopsy?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: How can you be so sure, Doctor?
WITNESS: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.
ATTORNEY: I see, but could the patient have still been alive, nevertheless?
WITNESS: Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law.
Okay, so our favorite psychopaths don't always get the best legal representation, but the media has a way of complaining about the wrong things. Here a few headlines that got my attention.
