Dream On!

Dream On!

There was this boy who woke up one night with a nightmare. He cries, “Mummy, Mummy!” His mother came rushing into the bedroom and the boy told her that he had a dream that Grandma died. So a week later, his Grandma died.
The boy woke up another night screaming and he told his mother that he dreamt that Grandpa died. Strangely enough, a week later Grandpa died. The boy woke up yet another night screaming that he had a nightmare in which his father died.
The mother told the father and he became very cautious. He watched his health and treated his body excellently. So a week passed and the postman died.

Sophie went to see a psychiatrist about her husband.

"Doctor, My husband has this problem. Almost every night now he's dreaming he's a refrigerator!"

"My dear, that is not really a problem! A lot of people dream that they are somebody or something unusual..."

Sophie leans forward as she softly whispers this confidence: "But you see doctor it is also a problem for me! Jake sleeps with his mouth open and the light keeps me awake!"

A distraught man goes to see a psychologist. How may I help you?  The doctor asks, "Doc, every night, I have the same dream. I'm lying in bed and a dozen women walk in and try to rip my clothes off and have wild sex with me."

"And then what do you do?" the shrink asks.

"I push them away," the man says.

"Then what do you want me to do?" the shrink asks.

"Break my arms!"

Dream Come True

Three dreams of a man:

To be as handsome as his mother thinks.
To be as rich as his child believes.
To have as many women as his wife suspects…

FAT CHANCE!

Catch you on the dark side.

Come to My Dream World

Come to My Dream World
By Nomar Knight

I rather be in my dream world
Cause in there you are my girl
We sit together in a cloud
Away from the nosy crowd

So come to my dream world
Let's have a blast girl

There we're free to hold hands
Don't have to follow their plans
Alone with you among the stars
No need to hide in cars

So come to my dream world
Let's have a blast girl

With the moon as my witness
I promise I'll take care of business
I'll love you forever
My heart I surrender

So come to my dream world
Let's have a blast girl

Fly with me through sparkling skies
In my dreams there are no good-byes
We caress, hug, and kiss
We'll be in constant bliss

So come to my dream world
Let's have a blast girl
And live forever in each others arms

Resilient Dream by Ramon Flores

Resilient Dream
by Ramon Flores

Mad, you say; are we
To chase dreams long begotten?
Steel wings which can not fly
Branded souls ne'er forgotten

You tendered Holy verse
Pointed fingers of mighty shame
Screamed that we were cursed
Ignited tears with burdened flame

Critiqued our sordid ways
Ignored our civil rights
By God, you claimed the days
Cloaked truths in blackened nights

Could it be we are the same
Searching for a better life
Wild dreams from which we came
Mother Earth, our common wife

Preached words of peace and hope
Blessed millions across the seas
By eve, you hung a rope
Despite our haunted pleas

Tonight, we stand and fight
So listen; to our vigorous cry
We pray with all our might
For the dream that will not die

Hold Fast to Dreams

Hold Fast to Dreams
By Nomar Knight

Hold on to your dreams
If it's the last thing you do
For as the enemy schemes
Envious eyes follow you

Don't lose sight of goals
Even if you let them rest
Because one never knows
If you can pass the test

Time slips us by
Toiling poisonous blunder
Squeezing life till you're dry
Launching lightning and thunder

From failures you'll learn
About life's imperfections
Success must be earned
There are no directions

Fear not what you see
Lunge forward with force
Don't be tempted to flee
 Maintain a steady course

Hold fast to your dreams
The power's within you
Life is what it seems
Wishes do come true

Awaken the Dreamer in You

Awaken the Dreamer in You
By Nomar Knight

“Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today.” ~ James Dean

This week we explore dreams in several aspects.  We start with my brief commentary on a few quotes.
We must keep our dreams alive, never losing sight of them, but at the same time we need to value what’s important in our lives.  To allow our relentless aspirations to interfere with our relationships with others is foolish.  However, what happens when that person closest to you doesn’t share your dream?  The way I see it tough choices will need to be made, depending on the circumstances.  If your quest becomes a thorn in the relationship, then perhaps it’s time to move on.  Of course, before doing so, you must be honest with yourself.  You should ask yourself: is your dream attainable?  Do you have the skills to achieve them?  If the answers are negative then examine why and if there’s a realistic remedy, then search for a way to keep your dream alive so that those closest to you may adjust.  Regardless, always make time for loved ones because our time with them is limited.

“The only thing that will stop you from fulfilling your dreams is you.” ~ Tom Bradley
Our actions or inactions go a long way in determining our destiny.  The driving force behind success is passion.  Do not linger in the land where dreams go to die.  Move forward, baby steps at a time.  For a precious few, dreams are realized in an instant, but for the majority, to reach our goals is more like running a marathon.  Have faith in your abilities and in yourself and above all, never give up.  Anytime you see negative thoughts creeping in, find something you love doing and do it.  Then when you’re ready to return to the right road, do it knowing that you will achieve your dreams because throughout history, there are many examples of the impossible becoming reality.

“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream new dreams.” ~ C.S. Lewis
Life is a cycle of endings and new beginnings.  What I dreamt of doing in my adolescent years isn’t what I dream of doing now.  As we change, so too may our dreams.  I’ve often wondered about the steady, secure person who always wanted to be something when they were young, allowing tunnel vision to maintain their narrow focus.  Sometimes while you’re in pursuit of one dream, another completely unexpected sprouts and turns out to make us happy.
For anyone that thinks aging is a restriction on dreams, I say, nonsense!  As long as we breathe we should look forward to a new day with the knowledge that a golden opportunity is given to us.  Also, we should appreciate that we’re perhaps better equipped to achieve balance while accomplishing anything we put our minds, hearts, and souls too.  I say dare to dream and watch life improve as you work towards making that dream a reality.

All the best to you!

Invasion of Fear

"You can discover what your enemy fears most by observing the means he uses to frighten you."-- Eric Hoffer

What scares you? Spiders crawling on your bed while you sleep with your mouth open? They inch their way up your legs but you don’t feel them because you’re too busy dreaming something you’ll hope to forget before you wake. While you run around puddles of dirt water in your vague nightmare, the spiders reach your neck. Unconsciously you bat away a couple of web crawlers, never being fully aware of the real danger that rests just inches from your chin. Unbeknown to you, one spider remains poised to enter a chamber of snoring echoes; a chamber filled with a warm intriguing darkness—your mouth.

While you do your best in the world of dreams to avoid the ever growing puddles because you know that if you step in one, you will fall into an abyss filled with pain and misery. In fact, you’re sure a demon waits, salivating for the opportunity to strip you of all dignity. He will expose your faults and even worse, make you relive your nerve-racking fears. While you wrestle with a fantastic and seemingly never ending nightmare, in real life, the spider enters your mouth. Out of sheer instinct, you shut the opening, preventing the insect from escaping. Feeling something in your mouth, you begin to chew, because in your dream, while you jump over puddles, miraculously avoiding them, you bite down on a Slim Jim and savor the salty taste. It’s only when you swallow, your eyes open to familiar surroundings. The thing still mixing with saliva in your mouth, doesn’t taste like the piece of processed meat. Instead you jump from your bed and turn on the lights. At first your eyes can’t make out the distinctive shapes, but just when you think nothing happened and that you’re mixing your dreams with reality, you spot two web crawlers. You cringe when witnessing their wide bodies crawling on the sheets, searching for their companion.

Screams fill the air. Screams of terror bounce off the objects in your room. As if your horrible reality wasn’t enough, you realize, something was in your mouth. You rush into the bathroom, turn on the lights and examine it. You gag when you spot a thin thread stuck between your teeth. No, not a thread, but a spider’s leg. Convulsions lead you to the toilet where your body forcibly dispels the monster that invaded it. A morbid thought pops into your mind. You are what you eat. “Yuck!” In addition to the exhausting act of vomiting, you spit until you can’t spit anymore. You brush your teeth, thrice, making sure to floss like never before and rinse with plenty of mouthwash.

At last you’re about to go back to bed when you realize, two more spiders are still there, but you can’t see them. They’re hiding, waiting for you to go back to sleep, back to the puddles, back to falling into the abyss.

*
So what scares you? Is it sneaky insects daring to explore your insides? Or perhaps, strange noises in the night that seem to prop up without any acceptable explanation? Maybe you see pronounced silhouettes of blackness prancing about in the dark? They toy with you and pull the covers off your feet just when you’re in the throes between consciousness and sleep. You ignore the shadows as best you can until you feel the bed indent. Something lies next to you. You tell yourself, how can that be? But you know, your spouse hasn’t stirred, and is in fact, snoring. Then it rises and the pressure on the mattress is released. You want to scream but don’t for fear of looking foolish.

So when you write horror, write what you know, write about what scares you the most. It’ll be like going to battle; you versus yourself. If you frighten yourself then there’s a good chance others will be terrified.

Sweet dreams and don’t let the bedbugs bite.
