Awesome Read by Poppet

Erra, by Poppet, is a book that I read expecting it to fulfill my craving for supernatural beings with a penchant for action.  I knew there’d be romance, and sure enough, there’s an interesting love triangle in the mix.  And since I’ve read other books by this truly gifted author, I expected her prose to flow on the page.  Well, not only did she mesmerize me with fantastic lines, she did an amazing job weaving the storyline so that readers could take more than just a story with them.  From her stunning female lead, Sarah, to the men who surrounded her, Dusty and Erra, this book shines while shedding a light on several mysteries of life. 

If you’re looking for a read where characters seem to literally jump off the page, then Poppet’s Erra is a must read!  From the sensual allure of Sarah and her incredible chemistry with Dusty, to the conflicts with Erra, sensuality and tension were the norm in this excellent book. 

I just loved how the author revealed Sarah’s emotions, and peeled back with slow clarity, like a blanket revealing a stunningly beautiful goddess, her vulnerabilities.  Erra and Dusty are far more than window dressing.  They provided a substance that rocked Sarah to the core, and along the way, opened the reader’s eyes to what Poppet hopes is a new understanding of this thing we call life. 

Don’t delay! Get the book and prepare to be amazed!

It's on! I'm cutting my TV time down, at night, and I'll be going on a reading spree.  I plan on reviewing most of what I finish reading so I may as well give you all a sneak peak at what's coming.  


First up: I'm currently reading Poppet's ERRA. 

Oh my goodness! So far, this witty, sexy little number is creating tension around my normal day.  That only happens when I don't want to do the things I'm supposed to be doing because I don't want to stop reading.  I'm halfway through the book and I'm noticing each chapter seems to get better than the previous one.  I hope to finish this one before the week is out.  


Next up: Keith Weaver and his book, The Nefarious: Prince of Shadow

What happens when a 300 year old secret, combined with dark, unknown caverns and a strange entity prey on the souls of the unsuspecting? Find out in The Nefarious. When a film crew arrives at a castle hotel to film a movie, they unlock a secret buried for centuries. What happens next is unthinkable to all. The Nefarious contains many plot twists, and a surprising ending not to be missed.

There are other books I'd like to read, written by some pretty, fantastic authors.  Stay tuned for more.  Both featured books can be purchased for just 99 cents at Smashwords.  Great entertainment for less than the price of a cup of coffee.  Awesome!

A High Octane Ride: Bipedal by Yvonne Bishop

What would you do if in the midst of a terrible accident, your victim changes your life forever?  What if everything you believed in is shattered and another world overwhelms you to the point, you’ll never be the same again?  That’s what Yvonne Bishop’s protagonist, Phoenix, is forced to contend with at such blazing speed that she has no time to escape her bizarre reality.

Bishop spins a tale of nonstop action, barely giving the reader a chance to breathe.  Her sexy scenes don’t disappoint.  If you like werewolves, don’t pass this one up. 

Bipedal is well written and edited, but I took issue with the fact there wasn’t time to pause.  I was forced to remain dirty a little longer, to starve a little longer, and to read with my eyes turning yellow (hint: bathroom break) for I did not want to put the book down  While I’m complaining, I may as well warn you that there’s some gore, but it flows so fast, it doesn’t deter from the reading.  My biggest gripe, I would have preferred chapters instead of one supersonic ride.  Of course, this book is short which adds another problem for me.  Yvonne Bishop’s talents need to be showcased in a longer work. 

Nevertheless, Bipedal is a good read at a great price.  Overall, this is a solid debut for the author.  I look forward to reading her next book.

A Quiet Torment

         As a parent, I expect for life to at least run like a rollercoaster all the while praying that it maintains the “natural order” of things.  I can take it when life throws its serene moments, tender times, trying emotions, conflicting battles, and mournful losses.  However, I hope life doesn’t twist tragedy around until I’m left wondering if I spent the last few years walking on my head.  I expect for the person born before me to leave us first, so it disturbs me when a parent loses a child.  I’m a father of two and losing one of my kids is my biggest fear.  I expect to go first since I was born first, but of course; life doesn’t work that way. 

     Unfortunately, death isn’t the only way to lose someone.  Imagine losing that which is most precious to you because evil rears its ugly head and like a thief someone abducts your child. 

     Abductions occur often.  In 2010, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, 2,185 children were reported missing every day. About a third of the victims were abducted by family.  Significant small percentages were taken by non-family members.  Incredibly, out of close to 800,000 abducted children; only 115 were reported as a typical abduction, meaning the child was taken by either a stranger or an acquaintance for the purpose of ransom or with the intent to kill the child. 

 In my first eBook short story, Fountain of Death, Officer Victor Prospero lives the quiet torment of losing a daughter.  In Victor’s case, his teenage daughter was abducted on Valentine’s Day.  As is fairly typical, it was suggested to him that his daughter ran away from home, looking for a better life.    

Once his own kind turns their back on him, his daughter’s disappearance takes its toll on his marriage.  Imagine how many nights Victor spends wondering if he was a bad parent.  He knows his daughter, Hope, and is willing to bet his life that she wouldn’t run out on the family. 

I guess the silent killer in all this, from a morale standpoint, is the mystery of her whereabouts.  Not a moment passes when he begins to see her in every teenager with similar resemblance.  A quiet torment weighs heavily on our hero.  You feel sorry for him as his world slowly collapses into an abyss where evil thrives. 

Could Officer Victor Prospero’s daughter be the victim of abduction?  Did she run away with a man?  Considering how many kids her age are taken and forced into the sex trade, it stands to reason he may never know his daughter’s fate.  But then again, never isn’t a word I favor.
