The Bowels of Darkness

Here's my poetic offering for All Hallow's Eve. (Previously published in SNM Horror Magazine)

The Bowels of Darkness
By Nomar Knight

From the bowels of darkness I came
Looking for my kind of treasure
Wasn't there to play foolish games
Or fulfill your sordid pleasure

Though your smooth flesh was enticing
And your warm eyes a delight
Licking sweat off your brow like icing
No doubt my lust would ignite

But purpose filled my need
So I ventured in the light
Your pale skin had to bleed
No use to struggle or fight

You winced and gagged at my breath
And spat vulgar words of hate
What you smelled was your death
A doomed reality your fate

Tainted soul ventured with me
Into the bleakest of holes
No longer could you see
Your blemishes and moles

Futile cries filled the void
Like razors cutting skin
Deception you employed
Revealed a black heart of sin

In my abyss your screams are harmless
So thrash and flail with all your might
Welcome to the bowels of darkness
Where forever is trapped in fright

Touched

Touched

Before you think today's blog is about something inappropriate, erase those awful thoughts off your mind.  In the past few days I've been touched...by kindness.  First, I found out that Knight Chills won another award, of which I will provide details tomorrow.  My good friend and writing partner, T.F. Walsh gave me something called the versatile blogger award.  That was very kind.

Today, an interview I did with a wonderful woman from South Africa, the gifted poet, Biola Olatunde, hosted me on her great blog, Ephesus: Center Stage.  If you'd like to learn more about me, visit her blog here.

Biola asked some probing questions and as a result, some of my readers have been enlightened in finding out what motivates me to write horror, poetry, dark romance, suspense and supernatural thrillers.

This wonderful poet, Biola, connected with me through Facebook and we have become good friends.  There were times when either one of us was feeling down, thanks to life's roller coaster ride, and after reading each others words, we felt our spirits lift to new heights.  She has been a wonderful influence on me as have a number of amazing writers/people.

Thank you Biola for being the wonderful person you are.  And thank you Knight Chills readers for sticking with me even when there were many negative elements swirling around you. I leave you with this quote and then please feel free to read my interview at Ephesus

In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out.  It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being.  We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.  ~Albert Schweitzer

Thank you all for your support.

Catch you on the dark side.

Probing Deeper at this Knight: A Bernard Pivot Blogfest

Thank you to Nicole Ducleroir for hosting this event.

1.What is your favorite word?
I don't have a favorite word, but I do have a favorite phrase.  I use "Take Care" particularly when I'm closing a statement or letter, but only if I really mean it.  Otherwise, I'd use something else.

2.What is your least favorite word?

There are a number of words I'm not fond of but again, the phrase I can't stand is "Too Late!"  That one really makes my blood boil.

3.What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?

Real life with all its twists and horror inspires much of my work.

4.What turns you off?

Neglect!

5.What is your favorite curse word?

I try not to curse, but some days sh** just happens.

6.What sound or noise do you love?

My one year old granddaughter laughing.

7.What sound or noise do you hate?
The dreaded alarm clock.

8.What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Write now I'm a teacher, but I'd love to write full time.  Maybe some day my dream will come true.

9. What profession would you not like to do?

I would not like to bag and pick up roadkill.

10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?

Welcome back, son!

What's In A Name? by NOMAR Knight

What's in a Name?

What's in a name?
By Nomar Knight

Doesn't  matter I try to comply
Bound by rules of the game
Hoping my words satisfy
Praying they don't come out lame

Maybe to you we're all the same
Players of words and themes
Illusionists to treat like a frame
Purveyors of fantasies and schemes

Nevermind I bleed on a page
Grasping words as if from thin air
Not some lion in a cage
But a prince trapped in despair

If my work brings you pleasure
Or intrigues your mind's eye
Then why not treat it like treasure
Let's avoid saying goodbye

A misprint once or twice
Is human I admit
But more than thrice
Just doesn't fit

Your cool Mag does its part
And ya'll do a great job
But these misprints break my heart
Makes me choke back a sob

So please no more Normar
Nor Norman or whatever
This Knight is called NOMAR
I'm a dark poet not a whoever

I believe all experiences can lead to good things.  In my case, the editor of one of my favorite online magazines, SNM Horror Magazine, seems to have difficulty with my first name.  They've been kind enough to publish some of my poems, but somehow, they tend to get my name wrong.  While I haven't thrown a fit, nor have I thrown knives at anyone, nor have I tortured anyone because of this infraction, I do appreciate that this experience has led to me doing what I love best.  Hence, I wrote this poem.

To show there are no hard feelings on my part, I include a link to their fine magazine and my latest poem, Chains of Damnation.  Enjoy my poem and all the others.  Enjoy their great stories and amazing art.  And please do subscribe to their newsletter.  They do great work and amazingly, are still free.

And yes, if you scroll down to my poem, you will find that my name is spelled correctly as of this writing.  Thank you Mr. Editor. ;-)  And thank you Kerry Morgan.

This poem is also showcased for OneStopPoetry

Truth in Darkness by Nomar Knight & Bernadette Marie

Truth in Darkness
By Nomar Knight and Bernadette Marie

Darker than Dark
(Bernadette Marie)

Closed the Door
Here's my suicide song
My love

I loved you...
But I guess I just...
Hated you MORE...

Feels so good
To slip away

Now I really closed the door
You can't have me back

 Now, Baby
I'm running with my all

My body now torn away
From my soul

You never thought....
I'd really let go.

Crazy Dark
(Nomar Knight)

Slammed the door
Here's my gone crazy song
My sweet

I did love you
But I know
You still hate me

To see you slip away
To the land of no return

Don't want you back
Ever Baby

I'm stuck between padded walls
My soul a prisoner
Of your thoughtless act

I never knew
Love could be so crazy

Darker than Dark?
You ain't seen nothin' yet

For you
The truth in darkness

Won’t EVER set you free

What about me? A Character's Gripe

What about me? A Character’s Gripe

Hello, you may know me from the Burning Love series here on Knight Chills.  I’m Candy, today’s guest blogger.

If you’re not familiar with my ongoing story, I was just a normal young woman looking for love.  I thought I found it with a man named Sam.  The fact he turned out to be a professional hit-man didn’t sway me away from him.  In fact, he trained me how to be a killer, only I can’t take innocent lives.  Yes, I’ve had the misfortune of killing a couple of men, but they deserved it.  They were bad guys.

So you may be wondering what brings me to guest blog for Nomar.  Well, like all women, I deserve attention.  The talented Mr. Knight has a severe case of Attention Deficit Disorder and I’m the latest victim of his chaotic mind.  Instead of revealing to you wonderful readers my troubles, he’s gone off in a constant state of depression.  Oh don’t worry, he’s not suicidal or anything, it’s just that an angel of depression has his ear.  The fascinating supernatural creature has my favorite writer entombed in a world where Darkness Roams.

Okay, I admit the angel has an extraordinary existence, but damn it, my story came first.  (Takes a moment to breathe and change my pouting lips into a tight smile).

Anyway, I need your help.  I want Nomar to at least write a couple more episodes of my story and soon.  But I’m afraid he thinks no one cares.  He knows there are at least two fans of mine… Thank you Awilda and Mary, you guys rock!  However, Nomar feels that Oscuro, the fallen angel, needs to be appeased.  Please leave comments in this post, encouraging him to continue telling my story.  If you don’t…I’m afraid I’ll disappear into the land of forgotten characters.  I can’t go there.  I’m too beautiful, athletic, and just plain hot.  Plus, don’t you guys want to see if I can finally get away from Sam? If I end up running off with my newest lover, Lucas?

Please, I need your help.

NOMAR! COME OUT OF THE DARKNESS FOR A LITTLE WHILE AND WRITE MY STORY!

If you don’t, I’ll have to come looking for you.

Your sweet-killer gal,
xxx
Candy

Swimming For Your Love

Swimming For Your Love
By Nomar Knight

In your absence I swim in the river of dreams
Struggling to keep my head high
Negotiating waves of torment
Through burning desire

The faster I press onward
The deeper I sink in murky waters
Shadows of discontent
Lurk in my mind

Fear crawls up my spine
A tumultuous awareness awakens
Will I be adequate
Could I make you happy

Splashes of images burn my skin
A fading memory of your face
Slips beyond my reach
Like gobs of water choking desire

Through waves of daily endeavors
I learn to hide my sorrow
The tides of time sweep hardship
Yet the hope of us keeps me afloat

Solidarity gives me strength
So I pummel through while hearing
Fierce cries spread asunder
I mustn't stop now

The simplest sign of your existence
Creates ripples of possibility
Carrying my heart to a promise
Worthy of the glory of you

Sweet whispers edge me on
As I watch defeat drown in the past
Can't stop fighting for us
Won't stop--swimming for your love

Hanging on a String by Nomar Knight

Hanging on String
By Nomar Knight

My life is hanging on a string
Hot days ignite fever
Cold nights stalking dreams
Your face a fading ghost
Hidden behind walls of reality

My love is hanging on a string
This emptiness pushes to escape
If I bleed it will be the essence of you
Precarious twirl of love's chance
Constant battles against darkness

My heart is hanging on a string
Exposed for all to see
Ignited by fear and isolation
Sprung forth by hope and dreams
Erratic beats pound senseless tears

My soul is hanging on a string
A quiet place disturbed by time
Wondering of what could be
A maze of choices sing inside
Praying one day we'll be free

Stop Looking for Signs!

Stop Looking for Signs!

I apologize for not having the next episode of Burning Love ready, but I'm having way too much fun writing a new book, DARKNESS ROAMS.  In the near future I will provide a synopses, but for now I suggest you join me on a brief journey that just may satisfy a burning desire.  If you're like me, you look for a sign that things will finally be different.  You search for a magic remedy that will solve all of your problems.  Well, that won't happen here.  However, I do have a small collection of signs and perhaps some of them may amuse you.

Sometimes it pays to be selfish or a chicken.

Conspiracy Theory Alert!

Just another way to battle overpopulation.

I wonder how many of us said this prayer on January 1st, 2011.

Contrary to popular belief, I do not attend at this church.

Darn! I had a list of people I wanted to throw in there.

Yet another reason to fight against illiteracy.

Thanks for visiting Knight Chills. I leave you with this last bit of wisdom.

Loser Like Me by Nomar Knight

rapper Pictures, Images and Photos
Loser Like Me

     Loser Like Me
By Nomar Knight

This is me
For all to see
Beyond the glitter
Lies a quitter

Judge me
Hate me
I don't care
For I am rare

I take what's mine
And climb the vine
Life's stupid game
Without the shame

Thumb your nose
Keep the pose
Say you're the best
Surely you jest

I keep it real
And never steal
My friends last
Yours go fast

Hate bleeds you dry
No wonder why
All negative flack
Slides off my back

Drag the chain
Don't spread the pain
Best be a loser
Than a drug user

Perfection ain't my game
Gotta be insane
You keep the look
I'll write a book

You be you
Without a clue
I'll be me
Wild and free

Who else wants to be
A loser like me?

Stylish Blogger Award Finds Knight Chills

Stylish Blogger Award Finds Knight Chills

I know Knight Chills is not just about horror.  Our readers may enjoy a good scary tale, a chilling poem, but they also look forward to romance and passion.  Thrilling suspense, mystery and a little Science Fiction also make an appearance on this fun blog.

Let's face it, I do my best to entertain and when possible inform my readers.  I like to think I keep things simple.  That's why my friend and Knight Chills contributor, Carole Gill, surprised me by bestowing this award.  Perhaps in the past I used to dress in three piece suits, but now I prefer jeans and a t-shirt.  With that said, I'd like to thank Carole for thinking about Knight Chills.  As luck would have it, the award comes with strings attached.

Here they are:

I must write seven things about myself and I must thank the person who gave it to me.

Also I must nominate ten bloggers to receive the award.

Thank you, Carole.  You can find her blog here and here goes:

Seven things about myself:

1. I prefer writing to doing almost anything else.

2. If you were to cut me, I'd probably bleed coffee.

3. My dark Muse has been hit with a romantic bug.

4. I live in the Caribbean yet I hardly spend any time on a beach. Shame on me!

5. Each Knight Chills contributor has inspired me to keep writing.

6. I love interacting with my readers.

7. Hope sustains me, although the coffee would argue that caffeine does it.

Now for the ten bloggers:

I'll see you on the dark side.
